    Rancilio V5 2016 Edition

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hello Everyone,

Has anyone purchased the new Rancilio V5 2016 Edition?

I have read up on the latest changes, however I have not seen any reviews or new PID's installed into the machine?

There are a few online retailers in Australia selling these machines.

    Thoughts?

We've bought a whole bunch of them

    Rancilio Silvia M V5

The only changes on the V4 - boiler insulation and a new arrangement for the power/element lights. Our PID installs shouldn't be affected, I can't comment on other kits,

    Hello
    I have a V3 (with a V4 boiler, the V3 boiler blew up after 5 years)

I have a Rancilio Bottomless/Naked portafiler and also a Synesso double basket.

Will this portafiler and existing Rancilio baskets fit into the latest 2016 V5 Silvia ??

    thanks

One more question - what advantages does the V5 boiler insulation provide over existing V3 and V4 ??

I do *not* steam milk, I make double espresso and double ristretto coffees exclusively (if it helps to answer my questions)

I have had my V3 since ~2009, I am wondering if it is worth buying a V5, given neither one has the PID anyhow.

Yes your PF and baskets will fit. With the boiler insulation, you *may* save a few cents in electricity.

Is the insulation integral on the new boiler, or is it wrapped around? FIL has a Silvia v3 that has a cracked element. Wanting to replace it with a v4 or v5 boiler to simplify anything further (this is his third element, keeps forgetting to turn the steam switch off, im putting a timer and beeper in this time.)

The insulation is wrapped around the boiler.

Cool. Is the boiler available as a spare? Also is the insulation available as a spare too? Might be worth popping one on our machine.

Hey Guys, sorry to Hijack - but would you recommend this machine over the LeLit PL41LEM?

They are quite similar in potential performance, probably more down to aesthetics/price that appeals to you.

    Cheers

For the same money? Yes, assuming the V4 is in good condition. But whatever you do, don't buy a V5 "E". They are designed to go cold after being on for 30 minutes. Not a great feature on a machine that takes 30+ minutes to heat up properly ... Go for the V5 "M" instead which is essentially a V4 with a different power light.
