After many months of saving my pennies I purchased my much-anticipated Silvia today.
Ive set it up and after half a dozen attempts at espresso I managed to get the grind right and produced a decent espresso with good crema.
Milk frothing is another matter, I think I will need some practice before mastering the technique, its got so much grunt compared to my Saeco Via Venezia (god bless her) but I will presevere and produce micro foam soon!!!!!
Ive managed to go from shop bought ground beans, to roasting my own and grinding, talk about this coffee culture being addictive!!
What an interesting way we can have fun! A mixture of food preparation and gadgets! Then even more, the varieties of cropping, international trade, oppression and poverty.
Congratulations on moving to a new stage!
Congratulations Greenman. Silvia is such a good machine its pretty near impossible NOT to get crema.
Silvia is also a wonderful microfoamer -- get the technique right, and itll be like riding a bike.
thanks for the encouragement!!
Ill work on the foam technique today................
Yes!!! I actually got microfoam this afternoon. I rang Supreme and Peter set me straight on the method and presto I had microfoam.
