Nuova Simonelli Oscar 2 intermittent flow stop during a shot

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
This machine is approx 18 months old, it has an OPV fitting.

Recently I have been noticing some inconsistencies in my shots and pour times. I thought it was the new beans I am using initially.

I then did some diagnosing and some really long test pours. I am thinking that either air is somehow being introduced or the pump is on the way out (harder to believe being this old)

Sometimes gaps are longer and shorter, sometimes not at all.

You need further diagnosis. Block the opv return and test, and disconnect pump output and compare flow to group flow.

Time for 30sec, flow should be around 300ml.

The pump non-return valve may have a bit of something in it. Mine had same- inconsistent pressure and flow, I fixed it, but ended up putting a new pump it it.
(I have some for sale in for sale section...)

You fixed it before the new pump went in? I will try like you said.

Yes, I cleared whatever was in the pump, and it was better for a while, but the issue returned and I replaced pump.

Following along to watch as I suspect Iíve seen this behaviour on my home machine but it has gone away or am not seeing it with my current regimen.

Swapping pump seemed to fix the issue so far.
