    Squeaky Silvia steam valve

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
After nine months of making coffee once a day my Silvias steam valve has started to squeak when I open and close it. It doesnt effect the steaming, just sounds terrible.

Any suggestions on how I could lubricate it?

the silvia has two different skeaks
1 contact between the plastic knob and the insert in the stainless front face = little bit of vaso opr grease

2 the thread inside the valve is dry
in this case steam valve needs to be removed, dissasembled and lubricated

The steam knob just slides off the shaft with a firm pull. It has a little spring clippy thingo that holds it in place :)

Haha -- on a new Silvia maybe ::)

On one where the knob hasnt been removed for a while you may need 2 people, one to hold the machine and one to puuuullll!!!

Thanks guys. I used a wooden shoe horn that I had lying around to gently pry the knob off.

A little tap grease and its much quieter. I think I will need to get the valve serviced at some stage before my warranty runs out, as its a little stiff and no where near as smooth as it used to be.
