    Gicar autofill units

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Can anyone point me to wiring diagrams or other info on these boxes? Would be handy in diagnosing my problems with one group/controller. Im an elec engineer but my clairvoyance on the internals of unknown black boxes is dodgy.. :) A web search didnt turn up anything useful either. I can probably deduce much if I opened it up but hoping to do external diagnosis initially.

    Many thanks,

    Dennis

Does it have a wiring legend/diagram on top? I guess not or you wouldnt be asking ;)

I can post some photos of the legend on the top and bottom of my Gicar controller if that helps. Its a subject close to my heart at the moment as I have a mystery wire left over from a rebuild which terminates in the aforementioned blackbox :o .

Ill take some shots later tonight if interested and post em up

Sean Lennon did a detailed analysis on the electrics of his Expobar Brewtus, that would include an autofill circuit. Its available from the Brewtus user group web site. Its a manual for adding PID controllers to the machine, but first goes into detail about how the stock machine actually works.

Other than that I suggest you try the home-barista site. Sean and plenty of other tech types frequent that site.

    Good luck.

If the controller is dead, dead, dead, *just check the transformer inside for heat / burn mark and warped cover.... Otherwise if its not dead dead dead but some functions operate while others dont, check the relays & you will probably find burned points inside.

The problem with the above for traders is the parts might only be worth 2 bob but it costs you 500 dollars worth of time wasting to find out you cant get some of these specific 2 bob bits in this country...so then you just turn around, pay the ransom, *& replace the controller witha *new one..........

However, there is still the question of whether the contoller works but the water turbine for that group doesnt, OR vice versa.........

If this is a machine where there are 2 independent main contollers, one for each group, try swapping them around from one side to the other...it only takes a couple of minutes to do. You can also swap the sender unit & paddle wheels around on the turbines to isolate one that might not be working.

If on the other hand the machine is the type that has a couple of simple touch pads operating off a single main controller, no can swap it!!!!

    Just thinking out aloud....

    Ring me on 02 / 6280 7511. I have something for you.

    Dennis,

Have you isolated the touch pad from the equation?

    :)
