    Aligning the spout

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
On my coffee machine the spout on the portafilter is no longer correctly aligned. In fact it is 90 degrees out of place meaning I have trouble getting two cups onto the tray.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to fix this. If I loosen the spout to it is parallel with the front of the machine, it is all wobble.

    Hi Nyg,

Another method you can try and one that I have been using for the last 2years or so, is to take a trip down to your local hardware shop or Repco, etc with your PF in hand and ask them to find an O-Ring that fits snugly over the thread on the PF. Buy a few of these (I got 10 for $1.50) and Bobs your uncle.

When you get home, just put one of the O-Rings on the PF before you spin the Spout back on and when its getting close to proper alignment, lock the PF into place (with basket) and adjust for final position. Its all too easy and so far, Ive only gone through 2 O-Rings in 2 years.... works out to be 15 cents per year, not bad ;).

    Cheers,
    Mal.

    Re: Aligning the spout

    Gday Nyg,
There may be another option. I had the same problem with my Silvia PF. The factory had used a tread stopper (a bit of string), which I removed during the first clean. Hence the spout screwed up to 90 degrees out (it was inline with the PF handle). Since the threaded orifice of Silvias spout is deeper than the threaded nipple on the PF handle, I removed some metal off the spout with a linishing belt and some wet and dry abrasive paper. Rub it a bit then trial fit until it screws on perfectly aligned. Yes it does take off the chrome plating, but you cant see itís missing because itís hard up against the PF housing. And it doesnt come into contact with the coffee.
No more buggerising around with o-rings, tape or gaskets. ;)

    Boris
