    Gaggia Carezza Steam Wand Question??????

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi there
Does anyone know if I can change the Gaggia Carezza Steam Wand to a steam wand from a different machine???
At the moment I can not stand the steam wand that comes with it and I would really love to hear that I could replace it with a much better one :O(.
I have already unscrewed the longer arm off but I keep the shorter stump on but it is just not long enough nor very useful far to many bubbles and a whole lotta loud loud screeching.... :(
    Thanks guys.

Re: Gaggia Carezza Steam Wand Question??????

    Hi PG,

I am happily steaming my milk for 1 (about 100mL.) on a Carezza (wonderful thing).
Would a smaller jug help? I use a cheap little Breville jug.
Without the plastic parnello on the shaft and the smaller jug, I get the wand in deep enough for a very satisfactory frothing and/or heating with minimal screeching.

    Kind Regards
    Lindsay

Re: Gaggia Carezza Steam Wand Question??????

    Hey there Knowledge and Lovey
Thanks heaps for the replies. KT I do use a smaller jug and only froth enough for one cup each time but it just doesnt give me good micro foam at all. It is very temperamental but then again I think I may be expecting alot from it that it prob cant ever achieve..... I was just putting the question out there and by Loveys reply my question has truely been answered!!! It looks like a whole lotta people have had the same idea in the past. The original still works but I just want it to work better...
Thanks heaps for the link Lovey hope I can get some of the pics that have been deleted off Andys thread if he still has them!!
Thank god for Mods...I had a laugh

    i had a carezza a while back.
are you tricking the steam thermostat by starting to steam just before the green light turns on?
if you do, then the thermostat is ON while you steam, giving you more oomph, and may stop the screeching (which could be not enough steam pressure, not enough milk stretching, or both)

    PG,
Aaron is bang smack on the money. The best way to achieve this is to work out average timings for your thermostat. So, have a stopwatch ready and turn the steam button on, and time how long it takes for the light to come on. Do this a few times, bringing the boiler back to temperature after every trial. Then, you should have an average of the time it takes for the light to come on - subtract between 5-10 seconds and that is the time at which you should start steaming!

    Good luck.
    Cheers,
    Ben

    Hello Steve,

I am looking to replace my Gaggia Carezza steam wand as well and I tried clicking on the link you posted, but it always takes me to the forum homepage- not the actual article. Has the link expired? I would really appreciate a look at it.

    Cheers,
    Kelsey

That link is several years old and is no longer correct as the new forum software uses a different naming convention. Here's what you're looking for: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/brewing-eq...ement-mod.html
