Anyone able to nakedify my group handle?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Ive been a fond reader of this site for a while, but I think this is only my 2nd post since registering. So, my apologies in advance for being that rude friend that only speaks up when he wants something.

Thanks mostly to what I read here, I ended up buying a Breville Ikon machine (dont mean to step on any sponsors feet.. but its on clearance at Target for $239.95... ) and a Sunbeam EM0480 (which I got utterly shafted on since I used a pile of gift vouchers to pay $219 for it at Myer).

So! I love the idea of using a naked group handle to learn with (since thats definately the stage Im at.. ) but notice its not so easy to come across a readily-available one that would fit the Ikon. And gees the DIY guides to do it yourself make it look so unfairly easy with some simple equipment..

Would there be any more-equipped-than-I person who would offer this much loved bottom-removing service? Even at a fee?

Im in Perth (dont laugh), so if youre in Perth too that would be double the amazing :D

    Hi Hamm

If push comes to shove and you dont find anyone locally, youre welcome to send it over to me in Newcastle, NSW and I can get my husband to remove its clothing ;) . He did it for my old 6910 and did a great job.

Fee involved - meh, probably just the cost of the postage to get it back to you in Perth and a donation to the FairCrack fund of an amount that you feel is fair: I dont think theres that much involved in it particularly for him.

If you can, though, see if you can get a spare GH and butcher that one, so you can always go back to the clothed one once you get bored of the naked. I found that, if you wanted to pour two cups, you couldnt without having the spouts.

PM me if you cant find anyone local.

    Cheers
    Di

    hamm,

I already do this for the bottomless 6910 portafilters we sell because theyre similarly difficult to find (Sunbeam dont make them) so could do it for you - like Hoyks Im not local though, Adelaide for me. Id recommend getting a second portafilter though so you have a normal one if you need it.

    Gday Di,

I just did a 58mm one with a hole saw in a bench drill & didnt turn out too bad. I found the biggest hole saw that would fit and used the slowest speed possible. Brass is fairly soft so if you if you take it slowly its not that hard. Then just tidy it up with a file and emry paper.

    Good luck,
    Thomas

If you are up our way...(south of Geraldton ;D) Joondalup area...shoot me a PM and I will see if Hubby will do the job for you....he has a shed full of man-tools waiting to be used...we also have an Ikon and most importantly we have a naked handle to use as a guide...heck...if I didnt love watching the coffee pour out the bottom of our naked handle I would have been willing to sell it to you...let me think about that for a day or two and I might be persuaded to part with it...
