    Insulating boilers (again!)

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I have been searching for some thinnish insulation to use on my boiler--thin because the pipes are close to the boiler and I was planning on running at least one layer between the pipes and boiler and another 1 or 2 over top. Hopefully this will keep the relative heats close enough that no, or only minor adjustments, are needed.

I found this stuff at Spotlight:
    Insul-Bright
    93.75% polyester (working temperature 150°C)
    6.25% metallized polyester (Mylar--melting temperature 250°C)
    thickness--2mm or so.
    cost--.5 metre x 1.1 metre--$6.50 (this should do at least 3 layers)

Its basically like polyester wool sandwiched to mylar, soft, flexible, and should be easy to arrange inside an espresso machine.

Safe to use, no dangerous fibres.

I dont know exactly when Ill get around to doing it, but Ill take some pics and let you know how it goes and the results to on-off times.

If anybody has experience with this stuff or comments--lm interested.

    Hi,
I was looking to get some of this.
My sister works near the Spotlight in Sandown (Vic) and they say they havent got it/cant get it. Anyone know of a store that may have some or has more helpful staff?

    Thanks Mal,
I ended up just ringing around the Spotlight stores within a reasonable distance of where I work/live and one had it in stock.
The nice person there who served me also gave me an information sheet with it.

My wife grabbed 500mm yesterday from our local Spotlight store, will look at wrapping the boiler over the weekend if time allows.

    Did my machine today.

Managed to wrap the boiler twice. Not pretty but does the job.

The pressurestat used to turn on for 30 sec, off for 90.
Now on for 20, off for 280.

My wife picked the Insul-Bright from Sewing Connection, a sewing shop in the Australia Post arcade in Pakenham.

Thanks Greg for the original post!
