    Deluxe or Barrista ?

I like the http://www.coffeetamper.com.au/products/barista.html due to the ability to adjust the hight..

    Hi Krunch and welcome!

Does he know thats what hes getting? Itd be good to get as much input from him as possible if he does. While Im sure hed be happy with either, they are somewhat different and if he has his eyes on a particular one itd be good to get that.

If not, as AM said the Barista has the benefit of the adjustable height handle which makes it a little more versatile in catering for different size hands. You also have a wider spectrum of colours to choose from (10 colours plus acetal and three hardwoods). Having said that, the Deluxe has five wooden handles to choose from so if you have a timber kitchen and youre wanting to co-ordinate with that then definitely look at the options in the Deluxe range as Red Gum and Huon Pine dont come in the Barista range.

What machine is it this tamper will be being used with?

Welll..... thanks for the votes of confidence folks! Youll still be fine before Christmas but I wouldnt be quite so optimistic as the others about a few days turnaround time - 10 working days is what we say to be on the safe side (though as mentioned its normally less than that in practice) but this is a pretty busy time so you might find it stretching out closer to 10 days at the moment. Obviously it also depends whether you choose express or registered post, whether you pay by PayPal, direct deposit or cheque, whether youre getting custom engraving or sending your basket (youre not but other readers may need to).... there are so many options we cant put a single figure on turnaround time but if you order and pay this week you should be fine before the big day.

I bought a deluxe with the Jarrah handle about 5 years ago, might be closer to 6, and given it no real care and it still looks like new, the wood has darkened up from the oils on my hands and it looks great.

I would buy another but I cant see that I will ever need to, sorry Greg ;D

Yep - need versus want is a funny thing. My checker-board handle tamper is doing great after a few years and will probably last as long as me...or longer. But those new flash looking anodised handles....mmmm

    Cheers

And yet I look at the Checkerboard tampers and wonder if there is any greater homage to our collaboration between nature and machinery....mmmmM!
