I will be in Melbourne for a short time later this month. Any recommendations for courses focusing on espresso machine and grinder maintenance?
    Thanks

I doubt whether anyone offers such courses because machines and grinders vary. Coffee Academy offers a Grinder course but this is likely to be aimed at the barista in a commercial situation.

You are better off booking some one-on-one time with a sponsor such as Chris from TalkCoffee.

    Hi Danny,

Have you got the cafe up and running yet?

Youll be in safe hands with Craig. A very knowledgeable professional.

    David.
The training he has set up for me sounds really great and I am so looking forward to it. I will report back after. I will also do an advanced latte art course with Fiefy in Adelaide during my whirlwind visit downunder.

For a number of reasons I decided not to do the cafe at this stage and to go with coffee roasting, barista traing and consulting on equipment to start with. I have been roasting for a few months now on my 5kg Toper and am encouraged by the results. In Australian terms I am far from being a pro, but in Phuket close to the top of the tree... I had a laugh, so I plan to keep doing as much training as possible, sell and promote fresh coffee and teach others to make decent espresso. *The standard here is so poor that the market has been crying out for someone to do this.

I did want to have a cafe and maybe still will someday but at least in the meantime I can maintain a flexible lifestyle which for me includes surfing and training for triathlon events.

As I have always said CS members are always welcome to look me up and come for a coffee at my home if in Phuket...still a great place to visit.

I appreciate all of the tips people have given me so far and special thanks to AM who helped when I was confused about the power requirements for my roaster!
