    Lelit basket capacity

Hi, I am still researching and know that a Silvia is better with a synesso double basket. I think i read somewhere that a Lelit basket is bigger capacity than a standard Silvia. My question i guess is how does it compare to synesso

Different sized groups: Lelit is 57mm and Silva is 58mm ergo, the Synesso basket wont fit in the Lelit even if you discover that it desirably holds more grounds. As for grams/basket well have to wait for current owners to happen along.

Yeah Brett I know that the size is different ie 57 v 58mm but like i said i think i read somewhere here that Lelit baskets are bigger than a standard silvia as in capacity in grams. I may have imagined it due to all the posts i have read. I know the Synesso baskets in a Silvia make a better fuller flavour in the cup due to the bigger capacity. Just interested in the capacity of the Lelit. Thanks for your answer maybe my first post wasnt as clear as it should be.

Ill try to remember to weigh whats in a double dose on Monday when I go to the roastery.

In the meantime, I took a Lelit Combi away this week as a travelling companion, with a double basket. It consistently poured a nice double - my guestimate is that it holds 18gm.

Ill weigh my dose after dinner tonight when I have my next coffee.

Edit: Just pulled a good shot. Measured the weight at 19g on my dodgy kitchen scales.

    Dont know about that Kafine....

Some of my most memorable shots were made with my trusty Mokita. Apart from adding a PID Controller for the Boiler, the only mechanical mod I made was a commercial spout to the Group Handle as the original was a bit awkward when tamping - Being of a split design, it used to move around a bit when trying to apply a standard tamping force and I was worried about breaking it.

    Great machines these... 8-)

Id second that. They are great value for money, and, to be honest, I think Id keep it or offer to a family member instead of selling it if I upgraded.

I personally feel they run a touch cold, but nothing hitting the steam button for a few seconds before pulling the shot cant fix. A PID would make the good machine fantastic.

I hesitate to use the descriptive "Great" but it comes awfully close. I have yet to pull truly memorable shots of Yemeni from my E-61 machine but with the Mokita+PID, the Yemeni shots from her were the best Ive ever had - Bar none.

The facility of being able to dial-in the temperature to suit various bean types really came to the fore with Yemeni beans as the shots were much sweeter (fruitier), more chocolaty and with more pronounced soft spiciness when the temperature was increased slightly. I just cant reliably find this sweet spot using the E-61.... :(

Yes mate, it would be nice but further major upgrades are not within the reach of my limited budget unfortunately. One can dream of course.... ::) ;)
