Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,

I want to buy a coffee achine for my folks for their wedding anniversary and i need help with brands. Are there any to stay away from? Are there any that are really good?

Or is it all the quality of coffee used? and the skills of the barsita?

I bought a little cheapy 2 years ago and it literally exploded on me. Grinded coffee and hot water everywhere >:(.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

    Re: Coffee Machine

    Hi,

Im a newbie but from what I can gather there are two types of machines, thermoblock and boiler. The thermoblock is the common Sunbeam or Breville type and while it does the job they are considered to be of much lesser quality, mainly beacuse they cannot control the temperature of the water as it goes onto the coffee which produces poor tasting coffee.

The boilers are the next level up and typically you go from $100-200 to $400 - $1000, everyone agrees that the Silvia is the ultimate home machine and these are around $750.

    A great article is at:

On eBay you can get a lot of refurbished Gaggias if you budget is limited.

Really it depends on your budget, if you let me know how much you want to spend then that makes it easier, also does it haved to be new??

silvias nice, ecm botticelli is a little easier to get correct temperature on- less of the wait till heater light goes of and wait x seconds- just heat up machine, get boiler light going, when it goes off start extraction- also huge boiler
if u want to spend money- heat exchangers are good in that u can steam the minute u finish extracting the coffee- dont have 2 wait for boiler to heat water to steam
im not sure if barazi dont have a botticelli for silvia price in the for sale section- a saving of $250
also check anthonys post in this section- the new brewing beast-
    brett
be careful buying machines off ebay
