Office coffee is no laughing matter.

Perhaps some serious questions need to be asked !

    How much coffee per day?
    Who will operate it?
    Any fitout requiremts?
    Training?
    Budget?
    Outright purchase or serviced?
Where will you get your beans?
Do you want convenience or quality approaching art?

    Hows that for a start?

What we need to know is:

What is the talent pool in your office(are they snobs too?)
What amount of bench space is available
Is there the opportunity for the machine to be "plumbed in" or does it have to be removable
How many cups per day are you making
Are you concerned about power use/carbon footprint
    Is cleaning/servicing an issue

Once we have a picture I bet youll have everyone jumping in with advice. The SPLENDOUR would set you back a bit and take a while to clean, it would also use heaps of energy but it would look great(sounds like the new hummer), a great plunger is easy to clean, fool proof and gets great results from well roatsed ,fresh beans.

After getting a bit of advice you may even wind up getting a roaster and a grinder and keeping the plunger you already have.

    Regards,
    Cameron

    Hi amberosw,

Your budget may be realistic, or it may be unrealistic according to your requirements. So

    First question is:

How many people in the office, or how many people in the office are going to participate?

    Its as simple as that.

That will lead you in the direction of the equipment most likely to suit, and that will set the budget for you.

After that you can worry about conventional VS auto, in the level and price bracket of the equipment that will suit your office.

What is the talent pool in your office(are they snobs too?)

    - There are some snobs, but not from this forum. Staff strength = 8 max, but there are visitors during the day so, +20?

What amount of bench space is available

    - Plenty of space

Is there the opportunity for the machine to be "plumbed in" or does it have to be removable

    - I think theyd prefer a more mobile one though plumbing in shouldnt be an issue

How many cups per day are you making

    - 20 cups max?

Are you concerned about power use/carbon footprint

    - nope

    Is cleaning/servicing an issue

    - yes. preferably low maintenance though theres a trained barista in studio

    Location:

Singapore, so part of the $1000 would have to factor in shipping if bringing from elsewhere..

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
For the price you have given it has to be a silvia but its fiddly to use (as you would know) and a lot of clients we have with silvias in the office do blow electric elemets periodically because some staff wont reprime the boiler after steaming....that either sets off the resettable thermostat or blows the element first up.

Realistically, in this price bracket there is nothing *****suitable**** for office use that isnt fiddly or finicky or too much trouble to use or wont last too long in the circumstances.

Its only my opinion, but an office coffee machine needs to be as easy as possible, quick & convenient to use so people can get back to their desks. Something that "keeps on keeping on" long term without any fuss.

That leaves your 2500 dollar semi commercials which are realistically made for just the purpose (...particularly if you are after eye catching equipment that will also impress clients and help smooth over business deals.....) or, a three thousand dollar Jura S9 which is a straight out purpose built office coffee machine.

The one thou price bracket places you firmly in the market for equipment that is either too small for the purpose or will break down very quickly after purchase and of course is not worth repairing.

If you can lift the budget, we can help with the proper equipment.

    Regardz,
    FC.
