    confuse about an Espresso Machine

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi, I never had coffee machine before and Im planning to have one. I went to retravision today and. Since I never make a coffee before and the salesman was suggesting me to get a semi automatic such as DeLonghi ESAM3000 ($850) and Saeco Taela Ring ($1300). *Do you think I will be wasting my money if I pay $450 extra for the Saeco? Should I get ESAM3000 ?

what do you think about those brands ?

    Thanks

    Hi there Elitearies,
I would suggest if you have a budget approaching $1300-1500, then perhaps you should talk to one of the site sponsors who actually specialise in coffee machines and know what theyre talking about. Most here will say, and i fully agree, that a grinder is the most important part of the setup. Spend $500-750 on a grinder and the balance on a reasonable quality espresso machine and you will be way in front as far as the coffee produced is concerned. Fresh coffee beans is a given, crap going in will always equal crap coming out, regardless of the tools used.
    Cheers,
    James.

    Elitearies;

All the as above brands are good, and easy to use press a button and you get a coffee. The question is are you after the easiness or you after the quality. We have an automatic machine in the store If you are in Sydney we will very happy to show you the difference in quality of the test.

    Regards

    Renzo

Beware of buying from an appliance shop.
Most coffee equipment retailers specialise in coffee equipment.
They dont sell toasters, televisions and stereos.
I wouldnt mind buying a toaster from Retravision but not a coffee machine.

OK, Now Im really confuse. Is that wise if I just get a decent grinder such as Rocky and buy a cheap espresso machine under $300 ? Will I get a good quality of coffee?

    The short answer is YES
But if you have a good grinder you can make better coffee with a $30 plunger
If you live anywhere near any of the sponsors take them up on the challenge

    You will be pleasantly surprised

The grinder is the most important thing.
Without it you wont get the best out of fresh beans.

Fresh beans + a bad grinder is a waste of good beans.

You could have the most expensive coffee machine in the world but if the grinder is no good then the coffee will also be no good.

Yes, they are good machines. Youd be much better off getting one of these than those automatics you mentioned. Automatics generally cant produce as good quality coffee as the more manual machines, but the more manual machines take more time and effort on your part to produce the best coffee. It really depends on what youre looking for - push button convenience, or quality.

And youll need a good grinder to go with either of those machines.

Good luck with your new equipment elitearies, be patient as it takes a little while to get used to Silvias little traits, but persevere, dont use the single basket (hide it or throw it away!!), get a decent tamper the plastic one is c......p.
Good luck, oh yeh, only use fresh beans and grind just before you pull your shots.
