    Equipment Suppliers Gold Coast

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I know everyones understandably attached to the sponsors here, but does anyone know of any good equipment (a la grinders and machines) suppliers on the Gold Coast?

Ive looked through the sponsors and cant seem to see anyone suitable. Of course, it may be not seeing the forest for the trees.

I am looking to buy some gear as a new setup and would really like the opportunity to see the stuff in action (as generally recommended) but would like to avoid a drive to Brisbane if at all possible.

    Thanks

    Hi;

Go Barista and Coffee Roasters Australia are in GC.

In Brisbane you have Di Bella, Veneziano, Barazi Bezzera and QCMS.

Let us know if you need any help happy to chat.

    Thanks Renzo,

Ill email both Go Barista and Coffee Roasters Australia but from their websites the range of equipment on offer seemed limited.

I was hoping to extend my reach beyond the site sponsors to perhaps some other companies with which other Gold Coast CS members have had positive experiences.

    No worries fancypants....

Its a shame that you look to the forum for support but seem unwilling to support the forum *:-?.

There are a host of sponsors here, all whom will provide you with outstanding support. Most will be happy to ship to you (many even ship overseas) and will also be able to arrange reciprocal service close to home as well...but if you dont want that level of service, so be it...

Best bet is to let your fingers do the walking or hope for a PM as were not keen on providing publicity nor plugging those who are not prepared to contribute to CS.

    Good luck...

I have to tip the hat to Pullman, Talk Coffee, Coffee Parts & Bombora. *4 site sponsors who Ive had personal experience with that have either shipped overseas to me or found creative solutions to the overseas problems.

    Its really appreicated.

Mixed signals are being sent here.
There was someone who lived a distance from Adelaide who was going to travel to the city, try a few machines, and then come back and purchase from a sponsor who was told (Im not saying by yourself) that he was being cheeky to the local (non-sponsor) supplier.

Here we have someone in a similar situation whos local sponsors do not sell the product they are looking for and they are told the same?

I would be in a similar situation, living in FNQ, and while I would like (when funds allow) to purchase from a sponsor as so many appear to offer great service, I would also have to consider where I can get the thing serviced, how much it would cost to send back if something went wrong, and many other considerations.

/edit One of the recurring suggestions prospective purchasers are given is that they should go to a shop, and get their hands dirty playing with a machine to see if it works for them. If someone is not able, for one reason or another, to find a local sponsor should this first rule of buying be dismissed?

    To reply to myself...
I have also noticed the other side of the coin, where users will purchase a machine from a non sponsor, then head off to the sponsor with their machine for a free lesson in how to use it.
Hopefully, in this case, the sponsor will then get some return business out of it, but my cynical mind would be thinking that if they would look elsewhere to purchase the equipment, what will stop them from purchasing consumables elsewhere too?

You make a good point Linnaen, but I must admit Id draw a rather large distinction between yourself in Effin Q *ahem* FNQ :P, to someone on the Gold Coast. As Renzo pointed out, Fancy Pants has a wealth of choice both locally and within reasonable travelling distance to choose from.

There are certain site sponsors whom make their dedication to task clear by their active....nay, hyperactive participation on this site. I would hope a prospective buyer would place a premium on such dedication, professionalism and enthusiasm and for the sake of a few measely bucks, reward such individuals with their patronage.

Such patronage would generally solve the local service issue but if not, such service is only around the corner or a fang up the Gateway.

If we step over the guys who answer our questions and patiently educate us on our choices....to get to the cash and carry suppliers, the former will quickly disappear.

    With humble regards,

    Epic76

I can completely understand what you are saying there Epic, but there may be very good reasons why the OP may not want to make that journey, and the Gold Coast does go on a good distance.
I can also see how as a sponsor or moderator it must become very tiring saying the same (or very similar) things over and over only to feel their experience is being ignored. However, as a new user the OP may not have realised the unique way the site is run, or how helpful (and prolific) some of the sponsors can be compared to a drone selling appliances in another shop.
As it is, the OP most likely wont come back here now to be educated as to why it could be in their best interests to make that extra effort to enjoy better pricing, and much better service, knowledge and after-sales assistance.
Oh, and I agree with the step-over remark too - which is why I replied to myself.

    Re: Equipment Suppliers Gold Coast

Im in Sydney and bought from a Melbourne sponsor.

That was a few years ago now and there were no local sponsors at the time.

So no hands on play for me beforehand.
All done via email and phone.

    Ive been very happy since.

Go for a HX straight up linnaen it will save you the stress, headache and money in the long run
    All this is nothing new

    In the old days
Buying from catalogues instead of the internet was what we used to do and was common place

    You must remember this
The machines have already come half way around the world from Italy or other countries to reach our shores

    Whatever.

I would have thought that the purpose of the forum was for unbiased information on the pursuit of good coffee. I must have been mistaken.

I would guess that given the site sponsors are probably suitable for 90% of the forum population they are likely getting value from the support the provide by business generated here.

I must say that although I dont find 2mcms response surprising, its disappointing.

There are many, many examples of where Chris has not "chased a sale" but merely given unbiased advice.

TG I had to comment in the link you posted... Sorry ;)

I need a coffee and hair cut and my wife to be back home... The domestic duties are getting to me... No man should have to do the home work stuff ;)

Then again... I must love it, as my man status is always being questioned... ;D :o ::) 8-)

Bias towards sponsors and away from non-sponsors regardless of how good the service of a non-sponsor may be.

I thought that surely there had been someone on the GC who had been in the same predicament as I am who may have some positive (or negative) views on a local retailer.

Its cool. I understand that the sponsors are held in high regard here; I too would hope to hold them in high regard one day.

Looks like Ill have to trek up the motorway to trial a good range of gear to make the best decision for me. I dont know about others, but Im not in the habit of handing over thousands of dollars sight unseen.

Sorry if Ive trod on anyones toes.

    I totally agree
I often advise people to test drive as many machines as possible and get one that right for you

Visiting a shop that has a vast range is the problem. Even in a city like Brisbane

There are groups or categories of machines available

    1) You need to first set a budget including grinder
    2) Make a short list (in your chosen category there may only be 4 to 5 to choose)
    3) Find your closest retailer or several retailers
    4) Test drive the short list and choose the one that suits you

If a retailer does not have a XYZ model machine to inspect in your area then you may receive an invitation from a local CS member if that member has that machine

We all lend a hand when we can because we share the same passion

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
    Hi fancypants,

I think you will find the drive up the road very worthwhile. You have some great sponsors on the GC and in Brisbane and Im sure that they will look after you very well. CSers are known to catch flights to visit a sponsor, so consider using that car I reckon...

There are also plenty of CSers local to you who will assist and sponsors all over the country who will supply great prices and service as well as after sales support. You may well find you dont get that when you choose a random shop.

CSers and sponsors are here because theyre passionate about the bean and the process/es. You may not get that from your local yokel. *There are plenty of stories of those who purchased the wrong gear because a bloke just wanted a sale. Give a sponsor a go. You may well be glad you drove.

    Happy shopping.
