10th birthday celebrations for Pullman Tampers

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Who would have thought... Dec 13, 2002 I posted off the first of what became known as the 'Vanilla' tamper, designed as a retrofit to the Quaha / Imat / Nemox / Lelit range of machine.

Optimistic expectations suggested I might even sell 30 of these. Who would have thought that 10 years on, more than 8000 individually numbered tampers would have gone out worldwide as 'Pullman' tampers. Since then both the Vanilla and its brother the 'Deluxe' have been put out to pasture, with the Barista and the Nexus waving the "Product of Australia" flag to the world.

We've had a lot of support over all those years from CSers, both in product development, alpha and beta testing of new products, and discussions on future design possibilities, so with December 2012 approaching, we thought it appropriate to have a bit of a celebration. Exactly what that entails is still on the cards but at the very least I hope to have a few very special wooden handles made up to commemorate the occasion. I'll post details closer to the time, but I'm always open to ideas!

Thanks for all your ongoing support, and here's to 2022!

Congratulations on the 10 years Greg! Your tampers are amazing and i enjoy using my barista tamper in my shop everyday... Put me down for the special wooden handles when you get them done.

OK so as intimated below I've got a few special handles knocked up for the occasion...! Barista and Nexus in Ossage Orange, Spalted Holly and American Walnut so there's a good spread of colours. There are a few of each variety and naturally each one is a bit different Each one comes engraved with a commemorative seal.

These will go on sale 13 December 2012 at thingscoffee.com.au, which is 10 years to the day from when we shipped the first tamper. To be fair to everyone there won't be any reservations in advance so it'll be strictly first come first served, but I'm happy for you to post suggestions of what time of the day would suit you best for these to go live and we'll see if there's a consensus.

There'll be a $25 premium over standard units for these commemorative models, but stick your CS username in the notes field in checkout and I'll throw in a 15g ridged VST basket (valued at $29).
