    IMS Competition showers and baskets

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
We grabbed some of these this week. The nice thing is that they clean with a wipe and the screen itself is so fine and smooth that it feels like silk.

In an e-61 group, capillary action cuts the flow of water from the shower immediately upon lowering the lever rather than allowing the usual drips. I guess it will help with fines as well.

Their take on it is as follows:
The INTEGRATED MEMBRANE SHOWER SCREEN designed by I.M.S. consists of a special membrane built inside the supporting body of the shower and has a filtering capacity of 200 μM.
The key feature of this product is the unique perforation design which, in addition to ensuring the best possible coffee, makes this product extremely durable and easy to clean. Manufactured as a single piece, the body is strengthened and the surface is completely smooth, and thus does not present any grind-clogging danger areas.

Anything in the cup? Who knows! I'll play with one in our demo Duetto for a while to see what (if anything is there). Regardless, they do look amazing!

They are doing a whole heap of baskets as well ...

    Hey Chris,

Shower screen look pretty cool. Any comments with how well they work?

Are the ims baskets going to become available on the website? I'm keen to try out both.

mine came in the mail today, Thanks Chris

only just pulled out the old one and place the new one in now, so wont be pulling any shots till tomorrow with it.

a couple things i did notice straight up though.

1: its slightly lower profile then the stock screen in the r58
2: just looking at the water flow, the spread is very even across the screen compared to the stock one.

    Will give my impressions tomorrow

    Hey Chris....

Do these still have the fine mesh screen fitted across the bottom, or have they done away with that? A bit difficult for me to make out...

Site sponsor Rick Bond aka Coffee Machinist has a range of IMS gear and may well have Rancilio showers.

TalkCoffee or Rick, do you have any more of the Rancilio IMS screens available?

I needed a new screen and thought I would try this one as the single layer screen and smooth surface should make it easy to keep clean. The screen surface is fully smooth and very easy to wipe clean. The screen is also very well made, it should last for years in a domestic situation. The indentation on the outside near the base is shallower than the previous screen so levering out with a spoon is a bit mote tricky but still easy especially with the silicone Cafelat seal as thry dont go hard or stick.

    cheers

I have one on my R58. I definitely noticed an improvement in my naked extractions using one of these.

Forgot to mention, mine is an e61 group machine. Naked extractions do seem a bit more even buy that could be the placebo effect. It's worth it just for the quality and easy cleaning.

    Cheers

We grabbed some of these this week. The nice thing is that they clean with a wipe and the screen itself is so fine and smooth that it feels like silk.

Anyone had any experience with these on Nuova Simonelli machines?

They clean easily but unfortunately I notice odd water flow spray and as a result channeling due to these screens. I've got three of them.
Switching back to regular screens and all is well again. Sad.
