i would say that is very similar internally to a classic, though i cant be sure. Perhaps researching the silvia steam wand mod might show up a few instances of people trying it on your machine.

Its certainly a worthwhile mod as the standard wand lacks the angle and has a terrible tip design both of which stretching milk smoothly a chore.

If you persevere with the existing wand i would recommend doing away with the plastic "frother" and using the bare metal wand and concentrating on tip position in the milk.

perhaps you could tell us specifically what is wrong with the milk and we could help to diagnose the problem?

Take the large plastic dooflicky off the end of the wand and leave the short stubby one on there.

With practice you will get great results.

My main issue in the length of the arm, so i was hoping that another tip would effectively extend it. I have tried taking off the black plastic thing on the end, but it makes the arm to short.

I may end up taking it off and getting an extension put on the arm.

The arm is not too short with the right jug. What size metal jug are you using? I will post a pic of mine a bit later as the arm should have no problems if you use the right technique.

The only other thing you can do is to change the wand for a sylvia wand.

Just did the Silvia wand mod on my Carezza on the weekend... The silvia wand price has pretty much doubled! Paid $42 for the wand and 2 O rings. Unlike the Gaggia wand in the thread on the wand mod by AndyCJ, my Gaggia wand had an unremovable bit near the tip which was used to hold the paranello bit so i had to take a hacksaw to it. the mod was going to be irreversible.

Steaming milk for 1 latte in a 600ml jug was pretty good, in a 300ml jug, it pretty much felt like steaming milk on a big commercial machine in a big jug. Whole steaming process took 10 seconds for the 300ml jug!!

Steaming for 2 lattes in a 600ml jug however exposed the boiler inadequacy... A lot more puff the first 20 seconds, and then gets really sad. Even when I did the "fill the boiler" and "start steaming before the light turns green" thing, it struggled to get 2 lattes worth of milk to 70 degrees... Gets to about 50 -55 degrees and then the loud growl starts followed by a severely reduced swirling...
