    Easy removal of Portafilter baskets

Came across this tip a while back which makes removal of tight Portafilter baskets really easy. Thought I'd post it for those who haven't heard it before.

The beginning of this video shows how to easily lever out a basket. The blind is ideal for doing this. If its really tight, you may need to swap side to side on the portafilter lugs.

Mine was soooo tight. I bent the straight sections of the clip to make it easier to get the baskets in and out. Pita without a clip, imo, everything falls apart.

I think I prefer a tight fitting basket to having it knock out with the grinds and the resulting mess.

I came across a lighter spring clip for my portafilter but think they are pretty much a universal fit for 58mm basket portafilters.

    The thinner one - https://www.coffeeparts.com.au/parts...1-1mm-diameter

Slightly thicker (standard?) but there is a difference - https://www.coffeeparts.com.au/parts...1-2mm-diameter

I bought both a while back to compare and there is a visual difference in thickness and the thinner one makes for easy basket removal in my portafilter (VBM).
