    Silvia doodad

    Hello all,
    probably a stupid question I know, but can anyone tell me what the rubber doodad is for on the Silvias steam wand, and is is OK to take it off?

    The rubber doodad is to prevent burny ow ows when moving the steam wand position.
    It would be OK to take it off if you are happy to risk burny ow ows.

    Youd have to be completely stupid to grab the steel wand after its been steaming. Just call me stupid! It looks deceptively cool, but its high-pressure steam hot, well in excess of 100 C. Thats why the rubber insulator is there....if only I can remember to use it!

    Thanks for the advice guys. Sorry to have to be the one to ask the supid question, but if I didnt know what it was, I can pretty much guarantee that a few other people didnt know either.
    I like the burny ow ow reference, but if I did feel the need to grab a hold of the wand and burn myself, I think there would be a lot of really loud yelling, with most of it pertaining to the son of a christian deity and human
    re-production.
