    silvia steam tips

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi there all, does anyone know if its possible to get different tips for the silvia steam wands? If so, where from, im in NZ but dont mind ordering from oz. would a multi hole style tip give better results than the single hole on these? The commercial machine at work has 3 holes and creates awesome microfoam....but then again its commercial. Btw the steam arm is on my gaggia. (just putting it out there so people know i have the gaggia 100ml steaming power not the 300ml silvia power)

    Cheers guys :)

    Hi love-lafare....

I very much doubt the Silvia could provide enough steam for a 3 hole tip..... so very unlikely you would get much action from a 100ml boiler with a 3 hole tip!!!!

There is quite a difference in the volume of steam a commercial can produce (mine has a 17L boiler)..... and even the 1.5L prosumers produce enough steam for a 3 hole..... but once you get below that.... the volume of steam just isnt there.... and without the volume the velocity of the steam drops.... and so does the texturing ability- plus you will empty the steam in no time flat!!!

So stay with the single hole.... generally manufacturers know best ;)

    Hi LL...

Keep in mind also that you have a red hot element in a rapidly emptying boiler when you are texturing with a Silvia. Its not too hard to overcook the element and then if youre lucky, the over-temp cutout will protect you....If not, its most likely a new boiler and $$$ and :(. I recommend that you do not texture more than one 600ml jug of milk for 2 cups without priming the boiler. It saves trips to the service man with a dead machine ;)
