    About prices and service standards.....

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Mod edit- this is a thread which ran well off topic. Responses to a for sale posting became a discussion of sponsor pricing and service levels. I have renamed it as well.

a bit steep? However, $20 is a fair price to pay for 2 second hand baskets including shipping. I personally like the LM doubles....you can pack up to 22g is you wish...but I never take it that far!

Re: For sale: La Marzocco Double Baskets x 2.

Actually, one LM basket is brand new. The other is used.

Brand new baskets is $12 each from Coffeeparts. Then shipping is extra $5.

Considering that 1 is brand new and the other was used for two shots, I think the price is fair. : )

Personally, I think your comment about another Site Sponsor is a "bit rich" >:(. I and a great many others are very satisfied with the value, service and support provided by Pedro and his Mum. I think you need to be a bit more careful before offering such criticism towards a fellow site sponsor....

Good point brought up, cos does this mean that we are not able to make any sort of criticisms about any of the site sponsors at all?

I dont think any of the site sponsors, or members for that matter, arent open to constructive criticism. Personally, I just dont appreciate back-handed remarks, particularly when they are unsubstantiated.

Coffee Parts stock an enormous range of products, offer competitive pricing, and their service is second to none. They also happen to be very nice people - the type I prefer to do business with.

    Not at all E-Gene.

The point is that sponsors do pay the bill for the almost 5000 CS members.

The sponsors are here because they are committed to providing that extra level of service that you may not find from other non-sponsor suppliers. They are the ones who pick up the phone after hours and stay back after hours to meet clients- when they should be with their families. CSers want this level of service.

Others might "criticise" the sponsor mentioned because their bits and pieces when ordered arrive the next day- even across the country.

For mine, that level of service is well worth 3 bucks. Bargain basement, and matching service is easily obtained at the dodgy auction sites...

Given that we all try to play nice here, an appropriate way of addressing a concern is to take it up with the sponsor involved and at least offer the opportunity of a right of reply prior to a public lambasting? *:-?

The sponsors I deal with are here because theyre passionate about coffee and also about service. We just need to give them the opportunity to provide that service...

I have now ordered a bunch of stuff over time from Pedro and Celinia and they are absolutely fantastic people and the service and gear is great. The speed of delivery is to be admired. The advice from Pedro is very helpful also. Chriss advice and service is excellent also, but there was a shot about the prices at Coffeeparts hence the comments.

    Cheers

I mentioned elsewhere that on my last trip to Coffee Parts Celinia was there moving things to a new unit in the complex.
They werent actually open but that didnt stop her from serving me with their usual friendly service (including a CS discount).

That reminds me, I have to go back soon for more bags.

    Edit: Spelling

My concern is based more on the fact that the representative of one Site Sponsor back-handed another highly respected Site Sponsor. The phrase "put your brain into gear before opening your mouth" comes to mind...

I wounldnt have thought so...Sometimes we all say something on the spur of the moment which is out of line. The appropriate behaviour in the circumstances is to own up, be an adult and tuck in to a small piece of humble pie....

Well, he didnt say that their service was lousy or even that he doesnt buy anything from them, all he said was that they are slightly more expensive. Just an honest comment in my opinion.

I mean Ive bought stuff from them before and yes I do like their service but Ive also found the exact item I bought slightly cheaper else where. Not to say that I wont even buy from them again jujst because of that.

No, he didnt say that at all - thats what youve interpreted.

My concern is that hit and run remarks of this nature are damaging, at first to those it may be directed at, and later, to the person who made them in the first place. In a different thread, I quoted a price for goods/freight and soon thereafter a post was made (not by David) that came across as implying I was over-pricing, and suggesting I am not adept at negotiating. Soon thereafter the supplier stepped in, confirming the costs of goods/freight that I had quoted were correct. No withdrawal or apology was ever made by the person who had made that post. The irony was, and remains, that I was prepared to carry out the transaction at less than cost price.

Though his silence has almost become deafening, Id still like to hear Davids views.

Just as much as many others have interpreted Davids comment as being off-handed, unthoughtful etc.

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
    Hi all,

I feel that this thread had probably had more than a fair run.

In the interests of keeping things nice, Im locking it down for the moment and have referred it to the mod team to make a decision as to how to proceed from here.

    Cheers
