    Aeropress Grinder setting

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I use an aeropress at work - Generally i grind finer than espresso - I use my rocky one or two notches finer than i use with the double basket(LM). Am interested in the grind settings used by other members - especially those with a rocky relative to espresso settings

    Gday argon,

I just use the same setting as I would for espresso, mainly because I havent been able to taste any difference between this setting and the "Slightly finer than Filter" setting recommended in the AeroPress user brochure, so have left it there, Dont think I want to go any finer than this though as it would slow down the brew time too much Id reckon.....

    Argon,

Ditto with Mal. I seldom re-adjust my grinder settings for the AeroPress. Ideally you want it somewhere between (filter) coarse and closer to (espresso) fine but given Im able to produce a brew in ~20s with relative ease, Im not too fussed about changing my settings everytime I toggle between my Espresso machine and the AeroPress. Go any finer and youd probably have to pump a bit of muscle to push the (plunger) press down.

    Cheers, Andrew

Hi argon - the aeropress is designed for a coarser, not finer grind-size than espresso.

Using the same setting as espresso will work, but affect the flavour...and youlll need much more effort. ;)

Truth be known, Im just a lazy bugger Dennis ::) and I really cant detect any flavour difference..... Probably due to my palate, not the AeroPress... ;)
