No burn steam wands, different steam?

    Hi,

Im not sure if this has been discussed, but the no burn steam wands that are starting to become more prevalent on prosumers lately has many positives - but what about the negetives. Ive heard that the no-burn wands produce a wetter steam than the non-insulated old school - keep it real ones.
I have the Minore and have found the steam to be sufficient, but Ive nothing really (as far as time goes) to compare it to.

Does wet/dry steam have anything to do with the wand type, hole size and number, pressure, or a combo of everything?

    Just throwing around some ideas.

I swapped the old wand for a cool touch on my Expobar and havent noticed any difference in the steam.

    Edit: Typo.

Re: No burn steam wands, different steam?

Ive got a never-used original steam wand for my expobar office. I modded to the cool-touch before using the machine. I suppose I could give it a go, but they almost look the same as far as nozzles go.

Does anyone know how the cool touch works? Im guessing it is one tube inside another to give insulation (like a vacuum flask). In which case it would also insulate the wand itself from cold milk which would probably be a good thing if you want the steam to keep dry.

If youre wanting to experiment YeeZa I was already thinking of advertising the stock standard wand on this forum. Maybe just PM me.

Take the tip off and if you look up into the wand you will see there is a tube in there as you suspect.

Yeah thats the tube that Ive heard makes the steam wetter. Teflon coated right? Where as the straight up steel tube makes it drier somehow. Maybe Im just pulling this out of the air though ::)

No idea! haha, Ive just heard that being thrown around before, I cant remember where, I thought it was on this site.... but....? Maybe something about the teflon not retaining the heat, but cooling the steam as it comes through? And the steel wand keeps it drier? Dunno. Id like to run them side by side just for kicks.
