    Ceramic steam tap

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Just thought I would enquire about better more precise steam control that also stops leaks and drips.

Can one purchase as an original or aftermarket ceramic washer kit or whole On - Off tap to suit HX machines such as Bezzera, VBM ect

Would the ceramic disc seal a pressure steam wand or is it only suitable for water

I am hopeful that a sponsor or someone with steam experience can answer this query

The thought came to me when I had the need to change tap washers in the in-laws home
It was easier to fit a new flick mixer with ceramic disc as it gave one better control and most importantly no drips

I have read on several posts in the past that machines left powered on all day had problems with leaking wands and ran dry, causing damage to the coffee machines

So I think the ceramic disc washer would be a fantastic mod if it is suitable and if it can seal a steam wand

    Any thoughts??

    Thanks Mal
I just had a look at the schematics on the Coffee Parts site of both the Brasilia and the Bezzera steam valve assembly and they are nothing alike

If I got a complete Brasilia ceramic steam valve body (from the USA) I fear it will not be suitable for my Bezzera

Still it gives me hope that it may be possible?

    Kosmo,

Do you know that your machine has a safety water level cutoff in the boiler as well as the water reservoir so apart from making a bit of a mess a leaking tap should not damage your machine.

    Re: Ceramic steam tap

    Yes
I do know that my Galatea has a cut off switch
My steam wand knob is also a soft touch so I donít need to turn it too tight to seal, and that sometimes is not tight enough
That in turn causes drips on occasions

I just like the idea of no drips

But a ceramic disc valve body could benefit machine owners without the low water cut off switch

    Hi mate

JR Lenards in Sydney are the importers of Brazilla.
There are 2 type of cermaic valves 1 is 1/4 turn and the other 2 full turns, I perfer the 1/4 turn.

They are very dependable type of valves I work on this type of machine daily and find very few that leak.

It should fit straight on to the pipe, not sure about length.
