    group handle with guage

I have a spare rancilio group hand and a 10bar 40mm pressure guage. Im keen to attatch the guage to the handle to make a usefull tool. Any tips on where to tap the hole to monitor the pressure within the pour?

    Hi Ralph

you also really need to put a valve on the output to choke the portafilter flow as you are trying to test pressure at say 60ml/25 seconds.

You really need to make the volume the same as with a tamped puck from what I have seen of the Scace devices (think this might apply more to the temp version). This doesnt apply if you just want to pop a measuring glass under the flow and keep the pump running while you time at a certain pressure.

Hi Ralph, As you have your machine apart, I would just temporarily mount the gauge after your pump. It will give you a true reading of pretssure when pumping with coffee in the filter. If you ahve the fittings and a length of copper it would take about 5 mins to put in, and about the same to take it out when you are done.

    Hey Ralph,
Iv been thinking of doing something similar with one of my protafilters, Im just missing a connection that fits between the gauge and the main brass coupler. Its not finished yet but this is whats been done so far, maybe I can attach some sort of thermometer in there as well, somehow? maybe thats going a bit too far....
