Well, having had to open up the Oscar the other day has reminded me that I was thinking of trying to add a vacuum breaker to it sometime.
Whilst the putting one in seems to be fairly straight forward, I do not know exactly what sort of vacuum breaker i would need to put in, are they calibrated for different levels of pressure? Will any vacuum breaker from another machine work?
I am a bit hesitant to do this to fix what is seemingly a minor issue on the Oscar (being the omission of a vacuum breaker leading it to require the steam valve opened as part of its warming process) but its all a learning experience.
tips, warnings, etc all appreciated.
Even if you fit a Vacuum Break Valve to your Oscars Boiler "raphec", it is still good practice to follow the procedure above (as well as blowing off the steam after switch-off and leaving the Steam Valve Open as the machine cools down) as VBVs tend to be unreliable by the very nature of their design and will often stick closed.Originally Posted by raphec link=1224626659/0#0 date=1224626659
Given that, it might be simpler to just leave your Oscar the way he is and continue with your normal routine.... :-?
