Looking for good range of filter baskets in Melb

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,

I wondering if anyone knows of a good place in Melbourne that I could go to for a decent range of different filter baskets? I cant go my normal Coffee Parts route as I need to physically try the baskets with my portafilter and tamper to try and replicate the fit of one double basket that I own. I have no idea of the brand of the basket I have, other than its not Carimali (as all my other baskets are, and this one is different). Many baskets (such as the Synesso) do not fit the Carimali portafilter well enough to be usable, so I really need to try any non-Carimali baskets to be sure.

Any pointers much appreciated. Ive checked the sponsors and cant see any obvious one that has a store front in Melbourne that might be able to help.

    Thanks,

    Dennis

Diamond-C, Genovese, Veneziano and Talk Coffee are all based in Melbourne and should all have filter baskets, though they might not advertise them. Its probably a good idea to call ahead to make sure that they will be able to show you the baskets that they have.

In terms of fit, I struggle to see that it really contributes anything in the cup, so if you cant get baskets that fit really snuggly to the tamper, all is not lost.

If you post a photo of the basket that you have, someone might recognise it.

    Cheers,

    Luca

Thanks Luca, had a feeling some of those might stock baskets, do you know what brands Veneziano might have? Theyre the most likely place Ill get a chance to drop in to.
In terms of fit the tamper literally doesnt fit in to my Carimali baskets at all, so just looking to get some that it will go in to without being too loose.
Visually the one I have that the tamper fits looks pretty identical to the Synesso, but the latter doesnt fit my portafilter so I expect nothing short of physically trying with both will do.

    Cheers,

    Dennis

    Hi Dennis,

Veneziano uses the LM baskets on its commercial machines, but will probably have other random baskets around. It would be worth giving them a call.

    Cheers,

    Luca
