Help: How to replace shower screen, gasket etc on Giotto Premium?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Can anybody point me to a thread that tells you how to replace a Giotto (Premium preferably) shower/group/gasket etc? Gumby-level step by step instructions / photos preferred ;D
I know I have seen this somewhere but just cannot find it.

Also would appreciate needed part numbers and such too if possible.

Background: Machine is probably 2-3 yo as far as I know this has not ever been done.

I am not having any troubles with mine, but from what I have read, I should do this anyway?

    Cheers!

    Easy Javaboy...
    1. Take stubby flat blade screwdriver
    2. Use edge of group as pivot point and screwdriver against edge of the shower screen
    3. Lever the whole lot down...

    Good luck!

Thanks... I thought it maybe as easy as that, but remember seeing lots of bits and bobs that came down with it (in a photo here: http://espressoparts2.zoovy.com/cate...upmaintenance/ (which was not specific to the GP, however)

I didnt want to commit to the job and then not know how to put it all back together! :)

I use a spoon handle to pry it off
the Shower screen collar has the tiniest of rims
you can use the spoon handle if not to thick to lever it off
Using a chopstick also works well. It comes out rubber seal and all

Putting it back - rub a tiny bit of food grade lubricant on the seal place it square on the PF and lock twist the PF to push it home

    Also another tip
The seal will have 1 sharp edge and 1 rounded edge

The rounded edge goes up ^

Hmmm.... Ive hit a snag. Got everything off but when I put it all back together and put the PF handle in, it goes past center when tightened and not stop at 90 degrees. *

So took all the bits (new screen and group gasket) out and compared sizes. The old gasket appears to be about 1 mm taller (deep/thick). Whats going on there?

The part number on the receipt says I was given:
    C449900229 8mm (ECM) gasket.

The part number appears to be correct for an ECM Giotto Premium, which is what I have.

Both (old and new) gaskets have a number 9 and the letters ECM on the other and no other writing.

    Any ideas?

Youll need to buy a spacer (a paper gasket). Give Cosmorex a call. They are likely to have some on hand otherwise you can order online from a sponsor. *Di Bartoli and Coffeeparts have them listed. Heres a pic:

Its also shown (as a paper shim) on the site you posted in one of your earlier replies.

    Ok thanks fellas, how annoying.

I will try to track down a 9mm one (thats what I thought the number 9 written on the gasket might have meant, obviously not?)

Plan b is to find a paper shim/gasket.

You may need two paper shims.
When I was accidentally given an 8mm instead of an 8.5 for my Expobar, Renzo came to my rescue with one paper shim.

If desperate you can make a paper shim/gasket out of a cereal box or similar cardboard
lightly grease to waterproof and its done
    Easy

Thanks all. The job was quite easy in the end.
...and boy was there a lot of filth in behind the shower screen!

I went back to the store where the machine was bought (as well as the gasket) and they gave me a couple of thin rubber gaskets for free this morning. They did not have any other sized gaskets in stock.

I will go home and give them a go tonight - dont envisage any problems. Next time I know that I either need an 8.5 or 9mm gasket.
