    I have stepped up

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    WELL

    It had to happen....

After a few years with the trusty EM6910, I took up an offer from CosmoreX Coffee and have a NEW machine *[smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]

Will get a pic or two and start bragging in this Forum and visit the 500 - 1500 forum as and when required...

Can not wait to get things moving :-)

Last coffee on the EM6910 is to be had NOW...

Congratulations. Given the supplier, I am guessing its a Diadema. Perhaps you might have been inspired by Mals DJE story. I guess Ill have to wait.

KK might question your Maroon heritage for not getting a Bezzera (assuming you didnt)

Italy is north of the border so all Italian machines are Queenslanders Flynn ::)

We will just have to compare notes on this one
Its all good with me as he has other family members to choose a machine with him

As long as the coffee is good * ;)

    Woo-hoo - fantastic news, AM

Wanna see pics of the new baby, as well as height, weight, length, APGARS, etc!

And CKSYD, never fear - once a $500-$1500 dweller, always one - I still lurk around in there hoping to help, hearing of others tales and always look forward to posts that back up my theory that the 6910 is still the best darn machine for under $1,000.00 around! *(Funny how Im still biased in that regard...)

    :)

    Cheers

Well what can I say... Just go in from work and can not wait to try a shot..... *I think a long night in front of me.. *And wife not here to give me a sleeping pill.... *They are out shopping as some of their bags are missing in Rome :-(

As you will see below... *Space is an issue and when the wife want to cook... *NO one gets in her way.... *Small area to the L/H side of the stove and the R/H side there is a little bench space and then the sink... * This is built into a large Bay window, to allow light and a feeling of freedom.

Hence why the Rocky is on the other side of teh room and I use the small tea tin to gring into and to transport to the coffee machine...

Sorry about the lighting.... But I guess you can all get the picture :-) *

Can not wait to give it a bash...

As for KK and North... *Well it does have that Italian look / style and believe me it was a hard choice to make... * Needless to say that Attilio has been very patient with me and funding and timing... *Add to that the fact that he had to move and carry on his usual day to day activities...

PS. *Yep, I still like the EM6910... *And like many items to day... If you take ya time and look after them... *They will last and give good service... *However many rush in and then blame every thing other than themselves...

Just like a marriage... *Ya have to work at it... *Thats why I buy and get things delivered when the boss is away :-) *

Oh well ... Off to try to make a coffee..

KK... If ya see this... I will do my best to catch you at teh cupping... and any other snobs that get along...

I trust moving up to the pointy end doesnt mean your sound advice will no longer be available to us plebs :(

Thats a great looking machine - I hope it delivers four times the quality brew as the EM6910 8-)

Cant wait to hear you report on some side by side shots ::)

    Congratulations on the upward move!

    Re: I have stepped up

    Gday AM,
Can I offer some advice given the proximity to the stove, like mine is?

My better half is a wiz bang cook, but the kitchen often ends up looking like a war zone. Aside from every pot, pan and utensil being used, there is usually always food debris and sauces sprayed everywhere. Including all over the side of my machine.

I have found a weekly wipe over with an oily SS cleaner makes wiping the splatter off the side the machine a heap easier. ;)

    Hi Boris,

Id really recommend getting the machine right away from the stove if you can. Even though you can clean the outside, the gunk gets in, deposits on the internals for the machine and degrades the insulation on wiring as well. I recently had an 18 month old Giotto which had been near a stove and the rectification of the damage as well descale and replacement of the control board became a $700+ job :o. Internally, the machine was absolutely disgusting and the only way I could clean the outside of the machine was to use backflush detergent...

Yep... Always an issue in any kitchen..

1: The SB never had any real problems...

2: We tend to use the far side hot plates/ rings..

    3: Very little frying etc

4: Extractor goes on every time..

Now that does not STOP the problem... It mealy reduces it.. And until I win LOTTO or a big slice of the pie... The space I have; is all I have.....

However the advice and warning is suitable for all equipment in a kitchen... I have 136"ceilings and have a collection of old hand made / blown bottles of all ages... The are on the other side of the kitchen... After 7 years.... I had to use a strong degreaser to wash them as over time oils / fats and dust etc deposited themselves ( Naughty dirt) and baked on hard...

Reminds me of the patchwork quilt I had made for the weels on my 4WD. Yes, a few of the off road club members mocked me, but when we set up camp for the night, my wheels were toasty and warm and protected from the elements...
