Is the water tank filled and correctly seated?
If so, turn the machine off, count to 10, then turn it back on again.

Will suggest you to take it to the doctor for a check up. Does not look good.

Doesnt these HX machines have an autofill sensor to fill the boiler as well as sensor on the water tank that shuts off heating element and alarm comes on when the water tank is empty?
Mine is nowhere near the price range of the Giotto P and has those making it virtually impossible to run the machine dry.

    Hi 51,

Fill the tank, lift it up and down in the coupling plunger style, switch off and then on again.

All should then be fine ;)

    Hi thanks for quick reply.!
Tank has been filled. I think its seated fine. Im at work now but my girlfriend is at home - she just turned the machine ON again but still no pumping/filling of the boiler or heating. ... hmmm.

if its not heating up after filling with water, i dare say you have tripped the breaker

    easy fix.

take lid off machine. 4 screws

then just reset the little red switch (makes ure power is off, best to unplug from wall)

its the little red button, between the white and black wires on the left hand side on top of the boiler

I think youll be very unlucky if Johns suggestion doesnt fix the problem. Ive run the tank dry a couple of times (tank, not the boiler). As mentioned above, the machine has a low water sensor and automatically turns of the heating element and stops auto-filling of the boiler. It will normally kick-in again after you refill the tank.

All the above suggestions are spot on
It is the fail-safe system working as it was designed
To protect the machine from damage

I suggest you try this first - when my GPP ran out of water once, it seemed to get a little confused, until a combination of jiggling the tank up & down and turning the power off/on solved the problem.

Easier to check than removing the cover(s)!

The first thing I do each morning now is fill the water tank, so hopefully it wont happen to me again ;)

Yeah Toad, 2mcms tip worked. I lifted and re-seated the reservoir a number of times and each time air-bubles came up. I know this happens whenever you re-seat the reservoir but it seemed like it was purging a bit of air. Is this how the shut-off mechanism works i wonder? So its back to life again! Thanks to ALL. What great help. 8-)

Glad to hear youre back in business. *A quick tip (from my own mistake) is to make sure the rubbery/silicone hose at the left side, appearing next to the reservoir (which I assume is some sort of vent to atmosphere) will drop down if you have to remove the top.

Remember to replace this, or youll have water everywhere.

    Ciao,
