    New Bezzera Galatea Domus

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
After 6 years of faithful service the time had come to replace my Silvia :(
Spoke to the guys at Coffee Craft in Adelaide a couple of times and had almost made up my mind to go with the Expobar Minore III.
Made the 2 hour drive to the city yesterday and checked over the range of machines, must admit the build quality of the Minore left me quite under whelmed, in fact none of the machines on display did it for me, was on the verge of walking out empty handed when Basil, commented that he had another machine out the back that he thought would float my boat, took me into the storage area and broke open a carton and produced a Bezzera Galatea Domus.
What a machine! not only a thing of beauty the quality was far above anything else he had shown me, even though it was substantially over budget it only took me 5 mins to make up my mind, the deal was done.
Loaded into the back of the wagon and retraced my tracks, arrived home 2 hours later and promptly unpacked it.
After setting it up, reading through the instructions and filling with water attempted my first shot at grind level I had been using on the Silvia, way too course it just gushed from the porta filter, so some fine tuning of the grind was called for, half a dozen shots and an hour of fiddling with the grind setting on my Rocky saw me producing some very acceptable shots.
SWMBO was out, she arrived home later in the evening, and a Cappuccino was in order, success.
The verdict so far, totally different than Silvia, fast, easy, much better shot characteristics, at this stage steams milk beautifully, and fast, its great to be able to go from shot to steaming without stuffing around with switches and waiting for temp changes.
Am I impressed? you bet I am.
The service from Coffee Craft was excellent and the excitable Basil was a wealth of information.
Early stages yet and I imagine things will only get better, will keep you informed.
The only down side, all of that stainless is going to take some effort to keep clean and shiny.
    I certainly am a happy camper. ;D *

    Very well written
I have been trying to express that very difference in the build quality whenever I post

I heard this the other day the Bezzera is like the Mercedes Benz of the espresso machines

I have treated mine with auto paint protection polish
Now all thats required is a quick wipe with a microfibre cloth and a little window cleaner to bring it up to mirror finish

Many happy coffee shots for you and the family

    Re: New Bezzera

    I used Glassplexin
However all one needs is 15ml so if you go to a local auto detailer and ask for a similar product you may get some for free

Also I have read that plastic polish is also very good (Meguiars plastic polish #17)

Im not entirely sure about that statement KK but Bezzera have been in business for nearly as long as the venerable Benz company so they must be doing something right.... ;)

    keep clean and shiny.
Mine gets a nightly clean and I use nothing more than 2 microfibre cloths. One damp cloth (water), the other dry to buff to a shine. Machines now a month old and looks as good as new. *

My Galatea is approx 20 months old and still has that new glint and sparkle

I protect the top with a towel (Important dont cover the holes)
Not even one scratch mark on it

How do you protect the top with a towel and not cover the holes KK?
