need help - Giotto Premium. Strange sound.

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all.
I have been using GP for the last 3m and the experience has been ;).

So it was time for some cleaning and polishing.

Usual weekly backflushing and descaled with citric acid over the weekend. Then,,, :(

Whenever I start pour there is very fainty Joooo Wooook ( mild higher pitch at the end for about 1-2 second just before the pour starts.

I do not think there was that sound before.

The pour is OK. Taste OK. Milk fine. But the sound >:(.

    Any thoughts?

    Jon

    Hello CL,

This is what they call the 9 bar woofle...

Worry not, its a good sign that all is well and is common in many e-61 mahcines.

You made my day, 2mcm. ;D
    I was a little concerned.
Well another issue is that 14g general rule.
I think I put about 16-17g each time make decent shots. ( of course it varied with different beans ) I tried 14g through K3 elite and Giotto P the shot was less than 20 sec and sour as well.

Maybe I am doing something wrong? ::)

My previous Silvia and Rocky combination required about 15g each time.

    Hi CL

Just goes to shw that a Giotto is not a Silvia hey? I typically use circa 18.5g per Giotto double....My Faema is more like 20g...

If it tastes good, youre on the right track ;)

Every machine, every basket and every coffee will require a different dose and grind setting to optimise flavour.

    Hey Jon

Just a friendly word of advice...dont use citric acid to descale your machine. *It certainly releases scale but doesnt necessarily dissolve it, which means you run the risk of those flakes, blocking up some part of the machine.

Far better to use a product specifically designed for coffee machines that dissolve the scale, like Bomboras Triple Action Descaler. *I think youll find that most sponsors have it on their shelves.

    Cheers!

Second that....I think Andy needs to set an auto replacement for the term citric acid with the name of one of the proprietory descalers.

Were happy to clean up the results, at our special (why did you attempt to do that yourself using rubbish you read on the net) hourly rate...

I have seen 3 or 4 botched citric acid descales so far ::)
