One of the risks of showing CSs a bargain ;D

Is it local to you tashie? Return policy? Worth asking about the return policy.......just in case it has *a boiler full of scale or cracked with a blown element, buggared rotary pump.......etc etc ;)

I thought CSers could be trusted :P

No returns at all and the guy clearly knows nothing about it.

I wouldnt be surprised if there are some issues with it. Coffeeparts dont have a drip tray and dont know who the importer is.

Just teasing BF - but who knows who else might nab it now I had a laugh

Friend has one - theyre a nice machine but big and parts may be hard to get. Apparently rebadged Rancilios so its a definite upgrade from Silvia.

    Tashie,

Looks like its missing a panel to the left of the missing drip tray. That might be harder to get than a drip tray.

Might also need some work. Youll need to factor in a service at least if you buy it. Might look like a bargain but it could easily burn a hole in your pocket!

I know its not local to you, but a fellow CSer local to the machine might beable to take a look for you? Just an idea if youve got your heart set on it?

There will also be another bargain on the horizon... just be patient.

Good advice I think, thank you L. I think I might be in for more than I bargained for. Buyers premium+freight+service+missing parts... Might just stick with little Ms Silvia for now :)

    Thanks guys.

If the person that won it was a CSer, Im ever so curious to know how it turned out.

I think Lacehim gave some great advice pointing out the missing panel - that would have been a trouble I think.

Any way, look over your right shoulder - were all looking in through the window ;D ;D

Love the Bay of E also especially for a good laugh. If you do win this one Tashie, try teaming it up with some Vietnamese Weasel Coffee (no joke) currently listed on that site also. I think the two are a good pairing! I so badly want to email the Weasel Coffee seller and just say I had a laugh!!!

It wasnt on evil bay though... It was on grays.

*sigh* I will patiently await the next bargain that will hopefully come my way. Soon, I hope.

Little Miss Silvia is very pretty but driving me insane as it takes ages for it to cool down after I steam milk. Other than that, not a bad machine at all.

You should purge a whole lot of water through the group head after you steam - you should be doing this any way to protect the element.

    Re: 2 cents needed (metaphorically)

It takes a lot more than a boiler refil to get the grouphead back to temp on a silvia after steaming, the thermal mass of the group keeps heating the water for quite some time, even with flushes.......you will be able to speed up the process a fair bit by flushing, but there are 2 problems, you go through a lot of water to do it and unless you have a temp probe at the group, you wont know whats coming out of it, even with a PID, the indicated temp is at the top of the boiler, not at the grouphead......and its not exactly a precise science anyway, im gessing youve gronked yours tash?

What are you looking for in a machine tash? HX? Dual boiler? shiney? what drinks do you make the most? whats ya budget? you never know, some CS just may decide to sell up if they find out your in the market ;)

PS not me......no.....not me ;D....well..........no no!

    Re: 2 cents needed (metaphorically)

I cant really afford an upgrade right now I had a laugh and Silvia isnt doing too badly for me at the moment. That and I have very limited bench space. That machine went for $270 - I just thought oh well at the price - maybe I should give it a go. I didnt only because i hadnt inspected the machine.

I drink Cappucinos and SO drinks double espressos. Friends that come over normally have lattes.

I hadnt put too much thought into what I wanted in a machine to be honest, generally because the upgrade from a Rocky-Silvia is usually a big one (will need significant moolah). Ideally Id want a grinder that doesnt clump (grr Rocky) and a machine that will allow me to comfortably go between steaming milk and pullling shots.

Nooo idea what a I want. And then what I want and what I can afford are two different stories :)

That Grimac in the 4 sale section here is very cheap for what it is and worth considering and sell Silvia if you can swing the difference.
