    Help with Vibiemme Domobar

    Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    This is my first post, so please bear with me if I am not very good with coffee terminology.

    I own a Vibiemme Domobar machine and unfortunately the manual is not very specific on how to use the tools at hand. This is not the latest machine and online it is either called a Vibiemme Domobar Piccolo or a Vibiemme Domobar Lever

    I have tried going on the Vibiemme website and even other sites to look for a manual or instructions on how to make the perfect espresso, but havenít been very lucky.

    All I keep reading is that it has a commercial E61 group head.

    If someone could point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Second actually, but I am an auditor. :-?

    Now speaking as an auditor Im going to suggest you need to give us more information regarding exactly what you are after.

    We are ALL looking to make the perfect espresso, so what problems do you think youre having?

    Hi & welcome

    The manual will not instruct you how to make coffee with it
    Just post a specific problem you have and we will assist in the best way we can

    Re: Help with Vibiemme Domobar

    Ive just been winging it with using the leavers and buttons according to the sounds of the machine.

    What Iíd like to know is:
    - When does the leaver get positioned halfway (if at all);
    - Do I ever position the lever all the way done;
    - Should I use the frother before or after making the coffee (it takes ages for the pressure to build up either way);
    - How long should I leave the Domobar on before making the first cup.

    Many thanks.

    1] Fill tank with water
    2]Turn on and warm up for 40 minutes
    3] Lever is all the way up and horizontal to pull shots
    4] I choose to froth milk after making coffee

    I found this manual excellent. It is a USA site and some info isnt applicable but still a great reference for VBM owners.

    Thanks barri. Excellent reading for any novice like myself. I particularly like the detailed section on descaling as I have had my VBM for 7 months and close to doing my first descale.

    THANK YOU! ;D (I wrote it!)

    And it you go to the pages original link there are separate instructions that update the descaling procedure:

    May I suggest THE MOST IMPORTANT thing with these machines is to ALWAYS prime the boiler when turning on and AFTER ANY STEAMING.

    These machines need a little bit of common sense in order for them to survive and provide excellent coffee...

    Thanks Randy, brilliantly written. :)

    Does anyone know why 9/10 of my double shots always end up with more coffee on the left then the right spout? :-?

    Had this all the time with my old VBM Piccolo - Id call it a feature of the product. If your bench is even then some options are:
    -tilt the unit slightly to the right by placing something under the legs on the left side.
    - swap the cups to even out the pour: this is what I usually did - start one cup under both spouts then push it under the right spout and add the second cup under the faster left spout.
    - Change the spout: not an easy task to remove and replace spouts Ive heard.
    - pour double ristrettos: better in the cup but more time consuming.
