    Spotted- New Minore II

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I was out at Expobar the other day to collect some goodies and spied an updated minore II machine....

Most will know that there were some early issues with Minore II in Australia. Spanish transformers and controller boards rated at 230V didnt like it when our power spiked to 255V- as it can- and turned up their toes.

The boys at Expobar have been terrific in identifying the problem and rectifying it with Australian spec. components often in machines well out of warranty and this machine is back to its reliable, thermostable best. *We have experienced no issues with any Minore II sold in the last 12 months.

The exciting stuff is that this machine now looks a whole heap sexier.... 8-)
[*]The feet have been amputated and the machine now sits low and sleek[*]Power switch is now a metal toggle- like those used on Diadema machines[*]A new display is also in the pipeline

For mine, this has transformed the look of the machine and I think it will much better compete with the "biggies"....Watch out Giotto and VBM....

Ill try to scrounge up some pix....

oh man.... I didnt want to hear that really... haha, Ive already changed the feet on my machine to lower pro-file versions, and I can deal with the switch, but the newer display sounds like I want it already. Not that theres anyhting wrong with mine, but I just want it. I wonder if its gonna be a blue lit readout to keep in step with the new G10s etc, if so, Ill keep the red. Look forward to the pics!

Strange about those voltage problems considering both Spain and Australia are 230/50. You would think the ripples/spikes would be capable of reaching the same level. Do you know if maybe it was just their electronics and they had the same problems in spain?

Edit: Further reading indicates that Spain used to be 220V, and Australia only recently became 230V with +10% -6% tolerance. Im guessing the combination of these facts indicates that Aus mains power can have higher spikes :)

ditto Yeeza... I really didnt need to hear this ::) It sounds good already.

Can existing machines be modified with new bling?

I bought my Minore II about a year ago now, so wonder if I fall in the (older problem model) category.

Id love the switch if it was possible to upgrade it.
I havent had any issues with mine since the board was fixed under warranty.
Well.. apart from the switch crumbling. Simple and cheap fix, but perhaps the reason they have moved to a different type.

The feet have never really worried me.
Being 66" tall, anything that makes the machine a bit higher is a good thing for me!

Yeah I think Im in the "newer model" catagory, thankfully.

Ive been working on a backlit perspex/polycarbonate thing to hang off the side of the machine ala Unico Splendor.... its a work in prgress, definitely on the back-burner since getting the Corretto up and running.

At last years HOST show in Milan, the component manufacturer Gicar was displaying a whole bunch of temperature controllers that it had come up with for use in espresso machines. Any bets all of these new dual-boiler machines with digital temperature readout are at least partly down to all of these manufacturers being able to source reasonably priced temperature controllers and displays from the same company that they buy brain boxes and other parts from.

Chris, is this a part that can be fitted on the older minores?

My power switch is on its way out and will need to be replaced.

The switch on my Leva is also on its last legs and it has hardly been used because the machines on a timer.

I like the look of it though compared to the toggles.

Will the updated model drop the price of the current model?
Cant the feet on the current model be simply unscrewed?
