    Vibiemme Domobar Junior

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,

Been looking at a new machine for what seems like a lifetime, although more like a few months :-)

Went to mod edit- link removed in line with site sales and posting policy here in Melbourne to get a first hand look at some machines and was very impressed with the Vibiemme Domobar Junior.

On geting home, Ive been trolling the web and so far have not found any reviews. A few comments here or there, but being so new it seems no-one has had a real look at it.

So heres some questions for anyone who has one of these:

    1. Is it comparable to its bigger brother (the Super) in terms of build quality, reliability etc?

    2. Are you happy with it after owning it for a while?

    3. Has there been any problems?

    4. Any tips n tricks?

    ciao
    Derek

Yes Jon- an impressive machine but its not a valid comparison is the price point differs by $400. Youd want to compare the DG to the VBM Domobar Super.

Derek- For tight spaces, the Domobar Junior is excellent and will cope easily with a 600ml jug and back to back shots...

Many site sponsors sell the machines mentioned <<<<<<<<<<<<&l t;<<. Why not give one or two a try? They help provide this forum for you.... :-?

    happy shopping

Its a fair comparison to make, the Domobar Junior comes in at around $2550 and the Bezzera is available for $2800, I make the difference $250, significant sure but not a deal breaker when were talking about machines of this calibre.
Derek requested information and I offered a suggestion, nothing more. :-?

Nup...The DG retails at $3000 and the Junior at retails $2600, so I make the difference $400. Both get discounted and the street price also differs by circa $400.

Using your logic, a fair comparison would be a discounted Domobar Super at $3k v a DG not discounted at $3k :-?

Best to compare apples with apples I reckon.... ;)

I believe the suggestion was fair enough, so we agree to differ, for some reason you seem to have taken exception to my post.

Hehe. Derek asked some questions Jon that you were unable to answer. Im sure we are all happy with our own coffee machine and would recommend it in a heart beat. ;)

Derek, I am Talk Coffees Sydney agent (cuppacoffee) and to answer some of your questions...

Reviews are minimal as the Junior was released just this year. ECA (the importers) and resellers have had the opportunity to test these machines before release, and as far as I know, we are all impressed with its performance.

Build quality is the same as its big brother.

I dont own one but am very happy to have one on display in the shop. Given that I am very fussy as to what I sell, and have limited display area, a machine has to rank highly in my estimation to be on the counter.

There was a slight delay in bringing these to market because ECA ensured they were absolutely right before distribution took place. I think its commendable when a company places quality over profits.

Tips and tricks should be demonstrated at point of sale to enable you to get good quality shots from the machine as soon as you get it home. Of course, your skills will improve over time.

If you decided that the Domobar Junior is the right machine for you, Im sure you will be as delighted with it as Jon is with his Galatea.

    Cheers!

There are always worse and better; if one cares to take the time and to be open to change.

Now... Where was that add for Russian brides.. *I feel number 4 coming on *:D *If my next purchase is too much effort...

Now can I have a coffee to go with the mail order ?

    Agreed,

All the machines mentioned are excellent. The DS and DG are in a different class tot he Junior, but they all do the job brilliantly ;)

    Re: Vibiemme Domobar Junior

Hi Derek, have had the VBM Junior for about a month now, great machine. My only gripe is the pickup and return tubes into the tank can get a vibration/rattle up @ times. I seemed to have basically cured it with some mucking about. With the smaller boiler I seem to be running low on steam after texturing milk for 2 mugs (say 400ml) but of course that is called a trade off. Build quality seems high, solid & rigid, not polished internally but I dont think that is important. Would I buy it again?, in a flash.

Note that there is an almost new Junior for sale in the equipment for sale section.

Second hand / pre loved can be a great way to go...

However - "Caveat emptor" (Let the buyer beware.)

Some have been pre loved and looked after etc others have been not so well treated.. *In the worse case the user thinks they have been doing the right thing; while in fact they have never even followed the manual.

Most of the equipment offered by CS in the FS section has been looked after and the members are upfront as to any issues etc. *But it is still second-hand and no warranty unless stated.

As to other auction places.. *Well we have all seen and heard of GREAT buys and of course teh many disappointments.

    "Caveat emptor"

    Re: Vibiemme Domobar Junior

Im really happy with mine & would highly recommend it.

I dont seem to run out of steam.
Even if you did, the machine gets up to temp so fast you only have to leave it about a minute and its fully recharged.

The position of the steam wand makes quite a difference to "power output" - I angle mine away from the machine for best results. Also, the milk used makes a HUGE difference - I was very surprised by that when I tried various brands/types.

the overall size of the machine is perfect - & not too big that it cant be slid out from under a cabinet to refill the tank.
