    VBM junior vs super

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi,

I am currently looking at the VBM junior and the VBM super. I am leaning towards the super because I was hoping to set the machine up on timer to start heating up before I get out of bed so I can get up and start pulling shots asap. I have a 45 min turn around from out of bed to out the door and dont really have time to wait for the machine to warm up.

from what I have read the super would be better for this due to the tank and the auto cut off in the boiler... am I thinking along the right lines here?

Would it be safe to leave a super on a timer with the switch pushed all the way in?

You might be getting the VBM Junior confused with the VBM
    Domobar Piccolo (Single Boiler)

The VBM D. Junior like the Super has a low water auto cut off. Just make sure the reservoir is full when you hit the sack!

Im also looking at a new machine and TalkCoffee have a deal on for the Junior at the moment.

So...what will I lose by going for a junior with its smaller tank and bolier compared to a Super or a Giotto?

    TIA,
    Kev.

    Hi Kev,

You will notice a difference if you place high load on the machine with water use- say if you wanted to do 10 long blacks back to back. The Super has a larger boiler, commercial pressurestat and is physically bigger. Its otherwise pretty much the same.

We do have our offer on the the Domobar Junior in our sponsor area. There is also our make an offer sale on demo gear: details are at http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1163933911/9#9

    Hope that helps!

    Short answer is probably nothing.

It really comes down to how much youre going to push the machine when entertaining. So it depends on the use its going to get.

I recently bought a VBM Junior and havent regretted it. I was tempted by the larger footprint machines eg VBM Domobar Super, Bezzera Domus Galatea, or Rocket Giotto - BUT THE OTHER HALF SAID YOU CAN SPEND WHAT YOU LIKE AS LONG AS ITS NOT TOO BIG. When we went down to Di Bartoli to have a look - she immediately said NO WAY to the bigger machines. Im glad too because some of them are quite deep and on standard kitchen benchtops can only just fit and therefore may have to be put in a corner...

The bigger machines would be more convenient especially when entertaining, but I made 6 milk based coffees back to back the other night with no problems. So dont feel you have to get the bigger machines just because, but if you get a good deal and it fits in your kitchen - Why Not ?
