    He he * ::)
I must confess if I was moving I would also prioritise the coffee machine space

By the way the Galatea looks right at home in its special nook

i will be doing just that very soon :)

I have been thinking about the temp accom we have in kangy point Bris in a week or so and wondering if i can take my fully plumbed machine along with me :),

might sort a water tank for it prior to the truck coming and adjust the pump

wonder what the "maid / cleaner" will think.... I had a laugh

I can store it for a time and lend you an EM69AMB if ya need *;D ;D ;D

I would have a Large Gas Oven / Stove top and a Coffee Area as priority in any kitchen... New or refurbishment....

Deck would also need to take a Roaster and BBQ *:D

My wife and I collect Scandinavian mid 20th century furniture mainly chairs. We are looking at extending our house upwards to accommodate this personal peculiarity.

But the recurring, and unexpected primary consideration is not the chairs but where we can put more coffee machines.

    Go figure!

    longtemps vivre lexcentricité!!

Sue its great to see the DG is being looked after and loved!

Congrats on the move as well! The wall between the Compak and the Bezzera just didnt do it justice before!

    Hope you both are well!

Were kicking ourselves for designing our kitchen around our old smaller Saeco machine. The VBM DS, Mazzer Mini & Sunbeam grinder require alot more room. If we could do it all over........

Re: who chooses a house because the coffee machine fits?

My wife & I were looking at buying a house a year ago. Every open house we visited I would pretend to pull coffees and see if the kitchen would be ergonomic to do so.
No house really worked well (plus other criteria didnt work, like child friendly yard).

Instead, we are now building. I modified the design of the kitchen so there is a "bar" type section for my Silvia to be displayed & used like a cafe.
Its not too obsessive.. is it?

Give me 4 months & I will have pics.

Re: who chooses a house because the coffee machine fits?

Image below. Sorry the Kitchen designer wouldnt put a Silvia on the Plan.
The original kitchen plan had the island in the centre (not attached).
Because my wife is planning childcare for the house, we required only one entrance to the kitchen.
So we continued the side bench and joined with the island, perfectly sized for my Silvia.
My coffee prep area is shaded.
I know the size will not be suitable if I upgrade the silvia, but I dont think I will have a wife if I ever push for a new machine.
The manufacturer also added a shallow (100mm deep) cupboard under the join (for all things coffee).

    Congratulations!!!

Every time I read "no/very little space in the kitchen" I shudder.

Good question Mal, and Im happy you asked.
The roaster will go in the last car space on the right with flow through ventilation.
I have found that roasting is not really an indoors activity. :(

And here she is, freshly polished, sitting in her final resting place.
I have just ordered a Eureka Mignon to get the most out of Miss Silvia (and to match other stainless appliances).

Nice set up. But dont you think "final resting place" might be the wrong choice of words?

Re: who chooses a house because the coffee machine fits?

We renovated when we bought our house, extended the kitchen and such. I have 5 meters of bench space on one side to place a new machine. Oddly enough, I think Im going for the teensy domo jr, so it might end up looking even smaller * :-?
