    Jura C9 one touch

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Gday all,
First time user, have just purchased a Jura C9 and wondered if anyone out there with same machine could pass on any user tips in regard to fine tuning Cappacinos & Lattes?
    Cheers.

    Re: Jura C9 one touch

    Welcome to CS.

I have people on staff that specialise in the JURA / auto side of the business so am not now necessarily up on the exact details of each model and in any case we do a great deal more in the commercial models rather than the domestics however........

a couple of rules of thumb: Factory default settings usually result in the worst possible coffee and the machines are not intended to be left on those settings......

In general wth autos, read the owner booklet.......then brew your coffee using a greater...rather than the minimal DOSE of grinds programmable per cup. Set the grind accordingly to give you a "good" (subject to individual opinion/taste) coffee. *BOTH of too coarse and too fine, are NO GOOD *so find a happy medium in grind for a given larger than std dose of grinds per cup. Use good quality beans only. DO NOT use oily beans as they will bog up the mechanism.

DO NOT try and set your grinder by timing the flow of brew to get a standard espresso (as you might when setting a Non Auto machine) eg 30 ml in 25 seconds or whatever according to which spec you read....this does not work for autos and they generally always flow quicker than that.

Bottom line, just set it so you get the nicest possible coffee.

    Enjoy.

I certainly dont have Attilios experience with Autos--having only set up two, but I would echo his instructions.

Set it up to use the maximum dose of beans.
Use finest grind that allows a decent flow--trying for a standard manual machine flow will almost certainly cause any variance to the slow side to trip the safety on the machine, and youll get no coffee at all for that run-through.
If there is a volumetric setting then a bit of experimenting will soon show you how much water to pump to get a good result.
If you can, steam the milk manually, in my experience the auto-frothers dilute the milk with so much hot water as to be useless.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated, I had tried & timed the espresso flow as per my last semi-auto Saeco machine, but now realise this was pointless. Have been experimenting madly all weekend and slowly fine tuning.
