Dual Boiler or HX pod machine alternatives
I've a Macap + Silvia combo at work and I'm after a new machine for home that's equally good or better. I have a Nespresso at home now (I know, I know).
My wife doesn't drink and refuses to make coffee with my Silvia, so I keep it at work (where I have all my coffee Monday to Saturday anyway) and she doesn't want two machines on the bench at home which I understand and agree with.
I was looking at the Expobar Minore (amongst others) and what I liked about it was that it was capable of adapting pods (a specific Lavazza pod only) which would help me to convince my wife that I should replace the Nespresso at home with a proper machine.
Essentially this feature would allow me to make very good quality espresso and also allow her to easily use the same machine to make visitors decent coffee, probably better than the Nespresso which would be a fantastic solution to our issue.
As I've found very little info on this particular function from local retailers, are there any alternatives to the Expobar I should be looking at (that I couldn't find with a search online or here)?
If your wife really wants to use Pods then there's a couple of site sponsors that sell E61 compatible E.S.E Pod portafilters. Just verify compatability for any E61 machine you're considering.
There's also a different type of Pod Portafilter available overseas. Search - "Ascaso Pod Portafilter for E-61 Groupheads – Adjustable by rotating GREEN handle".
Quite a variety of E.S.E. coffee pods are available from different manufacturers.
That adjustable portafilter is a good idea. I had a thread earlier that mentioned a range of ese baskets that had different flow profiles. But that fully adjustable one is a better idea for sure
The 2 different designs of E.S.E. pod portafilters both seem to have flow restriction adjustment through the portafilter to achieve the correct pressure for Pod brewing.
