    Sumatra Mandheling Mystic TP

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
My wife and I are over the moon on the taste and flavour of the "Sumatra Mandheling Mystic TP"

Only had it with milk so far
How do I explain a feeling & resulting action
Its one of those coffees that you enjoy so much that you forget you have finished it but continually pick up an empty cup to sip again

    Mouth feel is silky smooth
Flavours are a mild mix of sweet berry
with a mild but balanced chocolate after-taste

Agree with your comments. I took it a bit darker than normal to CS 10 and It has a very rounded flavour, I detected a caramel flavour rather than berry though.

Ahhh... welcome to the (fun) variables of roasting!

The heat profile and the roasting device will have a fair bit to do with this as will the roast depth.

Rule of thumb for roast depth, think... lemons, berries, caramel, chocolate, charcoal... in that order of roast depth. Adjust a roast slightly to move through the flavour ranges and see what you find.

    8-)

This was another great indo, works really well as a single origin (espresso and milk drinks) and it hit my grinder many times in the last couple of weeks.

    Enjoy!

Taking it a bit darker was accidental but worked out alright. Normally CS 8 -9 but got distracted and still ended up with great coffee. The profile was slow ramp and steady increase at about 12deg per minute. Worked out very nice indeed. :D

Yes the Mystic was a great indo and we have some more good ones in stock and another triple pick on the way.

Just a great season for Sumatra this year and the processing has been top notch.

We are all spoilt for choice sometimes!

    So did I.

First roast I did was pretty good, then I went to a CS 10, and it is at its best at this depth. Post roast 5 days, very very nice. :)
