Venezuela San Cristobal May 2010 Beanbay

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Ive been enjoying this in the past couple of weeks. I did 2 roasts in the Corretto and have been enjoying some wonderful caramel tones with good acidity, not overpowering but balanced.

It works well as a double ristretto 18g, however I enjoy this one in milk as well as it cuts through the milk.

Ive roasted 2 batches in the Corretto, both enjoyable. My preference was for the 1st batch which had good syrupy caramel tones with slight sweetness over the 2nd batch. It had more balanced acidity to it compared to the 2nd roast.

Here are the Corretto profiles logged with the CoffeeSnobs DMM:

Ive since got myself a Gene Cafe and done 2 batches of the Venezuela in it so Ill post how those roasts cup when theyre ready.

    Anyone else roasted this yet?

    Cheers

I had clove flavors coming thru after last nights espressos. it was a real surprise as Ive never got them before in any of my espresso and it was rather pleasant.
Last of the 2nd batch has now been used up in the clever coffee dripper in which that roast was good in too. Nice body to it which was surprising from the CCD. Good smooth coffee flavor.

Sounds like a very distinctive coffee Jb.... 8-)

Cant afford to buy any just now but will try to grab some in the near future, before they all disappear.... ;)

ahh yeah its a nice bean, my friend just got a behmor, and we did a test roast with these beans. As it turned it, it was WAY too light, I think it finished just as first crack started, so the beans were a medium caramel colour.

It was interesting to taste it roasted so light though, its quite sharp but theres a passionfruit like note that I think probably gets lost after 1st crack.

Looking forward to having another go with this bean! ::)
