As far as I can tell, tasting notes have only been made for this coffee as part of this thread, so I thought that I would start a new topic for this one.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Volcan Galeras that Andy was kind enough to deliver me as part of my brown sampler pack last week. * I blogged about it here, but, in brief:
Espresso: Voluminous crema, lots of body and low acidity - in that regard, it was reminiscent of the last lot of CS coffee that I blogged about. Incredible marzipan flavour. (Its been a while.) Intolerant of shots that were run too fast; marzipan turned to metallic and bitter flavours.
Cappuccino: Fine, but marzipan fades into the background. Bitter and metallic flavours in fast shots seemed to concentrate in the crema.
Brewed (filter/siphon): Oddly, marzipan did not come through strongly. Potential for bitterness.
gronk62 didnt like it; either he just doesnt like marzipan, or he didnt get the shots right. Its kind of funny; I dont like marzipan as a sweet, but I dont mind it as espresso.

You just need to add the l in the appropriate spot and its all good. And just for your info, we have better things to do than to chase up on unsolicited links from spammers who use bLog sites. Much easier all round for people to add the missing letter in the URL after clicking on the link.... :)

Yeah, we do our best and so do a lot of the CS members who point us to non-kosher links or sites. We had a bit of a rash of links to blog sites that were using CS as nothing more than a staging post to steer people towards their blogs which often contained inappropriate commercial listings as well.Originally Posted by flynnaus link=1221113536/0#6 date=1221920143
I dont think its much of a hardship to add the l into the URL when checking out legit members blogs. I guess if you want to take the matter up with Andy, go right ahead but Im sure Andy has his hands full with the BeanBay thats just finished, roasting beans for BrownBay, maintaining this website and then in his spare time, trying to catch up with his family.
Takes all of 3 seconds to add the l into the URL after opening the link, so I just cant see that there is a legitimate problem here really. :-?

Having my own forum where I have at times been the only active moderator, when a spate of spammers come along you cant always catch them all as quick as youd like.
Little tools like the word filter can be like an extra hand.
Most regular posters will know what to do and the spammers wont realise theyve linked in vain.

Just spent a week enjoying my first roast of this.
As it was my first roast of this, I intended to go for 10minFC 16min SC [stop just into SC]approach.
Due to my "darling" children, The roast didnt work out as planned and I ended up with
14min FC 18min SC and I pulled it about 30 sec after SC [probably about the onset of RSC]
Well, its a ripper of an SO.
Big and bold with heaps of body and crema.
Enjoying it best as a grind restricted ristretto [40-50ml] where I get a rich fruity front I cant quite place.........low acid and quite sweet but sort of lemony without the zing.
Im not getting this same degree of fruityness with espresso shots though.
Mid pallate, rich mouthfeel with chewy nutty texture
I dont get the marzipan, Luca spoke of, but do get a sort of mild nutty flavour.
Finish is long with a nice dark toffee and aniseed.
Nice and big in a latte too.
Very glad I bought a heap of it.
