A few Ethiopian tasting notes
Just had a quick tasting session comprising three Ethiopians:
1. Gambella - 3 days post roast;
2. Limu - 7 days post roast;
3. Sidamo - 7 days post roast.
Gambella - big mouth feel and flavour. I think that I probably took this roast a little too far for my preference with a drop just after second crack (225*C). I've previously dropped at 220*C and enjoy that more. This one had big bass notes, very bitter cocoa. Good but I've done better in the past.
Limu - quite lifted and noticeable florals. A very elegant and clean cup. I'd be happy to have this as a SO. Very enjoyable.
Sidamo - my favourite of the evening. Very clear caramels combined with lovely florals. A really, really enjoyable double ristretto... I'm looking forward to roasting more. I've had a lot of success with these beans in my typical 50% Brazil, 25% Indo, 25% Ethiopian blend.
I love the Ethiopians! (and a lot of Africans :P) Was that a Sidamo Guji? If so, we have that at work and is definitely a fav of mine as well as a Yirgacheffe OCR.
