No thread yet?
I thought I had this one guaranteed. Tight, machine-gun like first crack on the popper, stopped by ear about 2/3 of the way through. A wonderful smell whilst roasting, very aromatic on the edge of the caramel start.
Granted it has only been a couple of days, but in the cup, the thing smells and tastes like green beans. Also a hint of that overbrewed flavour. Not balanced, nothing like Kona I've had before...
How have you been roasting this one? It's expensive to experiment!
It's a rare bean that doesn't have to be taken all the way through 1st crack before it's palatable.
Java "Yummy Kona!" phile
Toys! I must have new toys!!!
Yep, did a search, guess the 2011 thread didn't show up in the first page of results and I missed it anyway since it didn't include "Waiono"... thanks for the popper thread, particularly helpful!
Anyway, took it 45 seconds beyond the end of FC this time, let's see how it turns out.
Yes, I know I shouldn't taste it the next day, but it is much better with this roast... I can see hints of a very nice profile shaping up, some caramel notes but with that island freshness, wet jungle smell. No acidity whatsoever.
