    Bali Beanz

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I roasted 300g Bali Gunung Batir from last beanbay to CS9, nice even roast. Made espresso today, day 3 post roast, heaps of crema, intense rich mouthfeel and lingering aftertaste. Had to adjust grinder back a notch as first shot was a gusher.
Should be great in a blend with some Colombian as a base.

These are a great bean and sadly what you got from BeanBay was the last of my "stash". They are quite large and do roast well, a lot of people who have been to Bali are off-put from memories of coffee while there but Im fairly certain that local brews and export beans are two very different beasts.

    Enjoy!

Sure is a big bean, the Iberital struggled to swallow them! I also noted how finely they needed to be ground.

The reminded me a little of a Monsooned Malabar, they have similar richness and and a touch of that earthiness in the cup I reckon (without the weird mildewy notes), but these are better than the MM as an SO if ya ask me...

1st Bali bean Id ever had- very impressed and cant wait for it to pop up again in BeanBay.

    Cheers, Anthony

Had a short black this morning 10 days post roast, it was magnificent, smooth in the mouth with heaps of body and lingering aftertaste, hopefully some more of these will appear on green beans soon.
