Breville Ikon on sale for $249

Hi CSs

I was browsing through my catalogues and found the Breville Ikon (with bonus Bar Aroma grinder) for $249  [smiley=shocked.gif]at Harris Scarfe, as of the 26th. Not sure if you like to hear of things like this, but it has made it very difficult to convince the Milo drinker that I need a Silvia and Rocky combo at $1200+

The Ikon isnt a bad little machine..... in fact it is capable of making very decent espressos..... given fresh beans and a quality grinder!

The problem is the Bar Aroma just isnt a quality grinder (Choice rated it quite highly which generally also means its not good!)..... it barely grinds fine enough for espresso.... the burrs arent firmly fixed (in fact I believe they may not even be replaceable).... and the consistency of grind size just isnt there!

An Ikon and a Rocky would be a credible combination for making a decent espresso - a Silvia and a Rocky is definitely much better..... but an Ikon and Bar Aroma..... dont waste your money :

If youre in a capital city, check out a Breville factory shop.  In Sydney, they have the Ikon for $149.  Thats an extra $100 to put towards your grinder.
