  • Coffee beans in Singapore

    :question
My son just bought a coffee machine (Sunbeam 6900) and is taking it back with him to Singapore. I have convinced his wife to buy a proper grinder - but where in Singapore can they get freshly roasted beans???
They are (at the moment) totally against roasting coffee themselves.  Otherwise I could always send them a supply from the Green Beans section; sending roasted beans might be expensive (beans + postage).

Someone here may have some real experience. Failing that, theyll just have to shop around.

However, a quick Google for "fresh coffee beans singapore" got lots of hits--so thats a start.

We have supplied green beans for Singapore before but they were getting taken in as hand luggage whenever someone they knew were coming to Australia.

Way too expensive to post, even when roasted.

I would drop Ross Bright a line, he roasts for Spinelli in Singapore and knows his stuff. His contact details are on the Singapore coffee Association website

Let us know how they get-on,

      Andy.

Go see highlander coffee and ask them about beans. Pretty sure they dont roast their own but will certainly know where to get them.

Thanks for the tips!  Now I will get proper coffee next time I visit Singapore.
I know, I should have googled first - but (a) last time I tried to find a good coffee place in Singapore, there was none; and (b) in Singapore, organisations and companies very often do NOT have a web presence.

The owners of Highlander roast their own beans on a Diedrich IR roaaster. Phil & Cedric sell green beans too.

Also try and look up Keith Loh from Whitebait & Kale. He was looking at bringing in some greenage for his barista comp tilt.

Ross Bright from Spinelli has always welcomed the geeks and he should be able to sell you green beans too.

Holy Moly, sorry guys! Not sure what sort of brain-fart I had when I posted THAT   Of course highlander roast their own, and Ive even checked out their roaster! For some reason I had completely forgot about it, AND I thought at the time they did a good job too. Kids, this is what happens when you start drinking too much coffee ... or is it when you dont drink enough

Anyway, theyre easy to find follow the address from here http://www.highlandercoffee.com/ I just had a couple of lattes, nice! ...cant wait until they open their second outlet, which of course Ill be lobbying strongly for it to be close to Raffles shopping centre to save my legs from all the walking (and let me squeeze in a couple more espressos during the day   )
